Jail food poisoning may not be solved
APPLETON (AP) -- The cause of how one-third of the inmates came down with a mild case of food poisoning at the Outagamie County Jail may never be determined.
Sheriff's department spokesman Capt. Mike Jobe said Friday officials are looking into the incident but believes it will be almost impossible to determine whether the food came in with the bacteria or it was contaminated at the jail.
Samples of the meal of a beef, turkey and gravy casserole with vegetables tested positive for clostridium perfringens, a bacteria that causes cramping and diarrhea.
Stool samples tested earlier this week contained the same bacteria.
In the hours after the Aug. 7 dinner, 135 jail inmates and one staff member fell ill.
None required hospitalization, and the symptoms cleared up within 24 hours of the outbreak.

Correctional Institutions are supposed to rehabilitate people who have broken the law. “Yes, I know that is the theory”. So, they have to do a little more poo poo. Big deal! Who amongst us honest people have not had to deal with a “bad food” problem at sometime in their lives? (No answer needed. *s*) IT happens. (I purposely left off the SH *W*)
Honestly, I only feel badly for the one staff member.
