A 51-year-old man was arrested Friday evening after repeatedly throwing a large stone at the front doors and windows of the Rock County Sheriff's Office, according to a news release from the office.

According to the release: Jeffrey M. Hansen, rural Beloit, told correctional officers he was checking to see if the glass was bulletproof when they responded at 6:27 p.m. He offered his wrists to the officers and told them to handcuff and arrest him. Sheriff's deputies discovered the glass was chipped and arrested Hansen on charges of recklessly endangering safety, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.

Hansen is being held in the Rock County Jail pending his initial court appearance Monday, the release said.

A group of 10 people saw the incident, the release said. They were in the office lobby as part of a jail tour.

truecitizen:
I like your post,"....."Yee who have have not sinned throw the first stone" Just don't throw it at the Sheriff's Office!" That is funny.
I am also impressed by Stacy Vogel's taking full responsibility for her miscue. No denial; no trying to blame someone else; no excuses at all. That is the type of personal accountability that seems to be so missing in society. Just my opinion.

Bellagio_Bound - BINGO! That's the exact response I was hoping for. Great (or sick) minds think alike. This world needs more ironic humor. Thanks.

But Mark707, if we outlaw rocks, then only the criminals will have rocks.

We need a "Rock Control" law! Get those rocks out of the hands of drunks.

officerfriendly, your last post was excellent.
"Hypocrisy" is the perfect word for that. Our judicial system and everything that goes along with it is as corrupt as the people handling it. Funny how those two things go hand in hand.

"I wonder how someone throwing a rock at glass at the sheriff's office can be charged with a felony charge of recklessly endangering safety,"
.
This seems to be the way they do things now-a- days. Pile it all on, and then the chances are they'll plead to CD or DC, no trial, collect the money...next case.

Stacy Vogel wrote the article, made a mistake, corrected it and took full responsibility for it. Way to go Stacy and thank you. Your integrity is second to none.

I'm not to trying to disparage the sheriff's office, although I wonder how someone throwing a rock at glass at the sheriff's office can be charged with a felony charge of recklessly endangering safety, which will surely be thrown out by the D.A.'s office. I was only trying to point out the hypocrisy of the SYSTEM. I find it ironic that someone can attempt to barricade themselves in their home and threaten to shoot themselves with a gun and then be released to a family member BY CRISIS but someone who throws a rock at the sheriff's office is held over the weekend until court on Monday. The SYSTEM failed Shaun and Jennifer.

heatherpink17- please explain to me how Shaun being released has anything to do with the ROCK COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE?? If you read the article you would know Crisis Intervention released him, which is located in the Health Care Center, not the Sheriff's Office. And Edgerton Police Department took all of the calls concerning their issues, not the Rock County Sheriff's Office........

You are correct Kilgor 720; the incident happened Friday evening. It has now been corrected.

But please don't blame our copy editors. We have a limited staff on the weekend, and there weren't any copy editors around when I posted this item. I accept full responsibility.

OK, help me here. How could he be arested at 6:27 pm on Saturday evening, when right now it's only 6:10 pm Saturday? Anyone else catch that? I think I want a job at the Gazzette as a proof editor, the job seems rather flexible.

"this old boy just needed 3 hots and a cot."

Exactly, this guy was probably just looking for some shelter and food. A little extreme way of going about it though.

"held in the Rock County Jail pending his initial court appearance Monday"! Too bad Shaun Vordermann didn't throw rocks at the sheriff's office instead of threatening to shoot himself with a GUN!

Oh my oh my. This is kinda funny but kinda sad. I wonder if he was taking some sort of drug or if their is something wrong with him. Cuz most people if they wanted to know something they would ask. Not throw rocks and the sheriffs office. Kinda sounded like he wanted to be put in jail. Weird
