MILWAUKEE (AP) — A band of 6 inches to 10 inches of snow has fallen in southeastern Wisconsin in the season’s first major snowstorm.

Janesville got 5 inches of snow.

The National Weather Service says a slow moving low pressure area over the central Great Lakes brought the snow starting Sunday. The heaviest spanned from around Sheboygan south to West Bend and Port Washington and west to Oconomowoc, Whitewater and La Grange.

The National Weather Service office near Sullivan measured 9.4 inches Monday morning. Random Lake in southern Sheboygan county measured 10 inches as of midnight.

The accumulation was less in far southeast Wisconsin because there had been periods of rain mixed with snow.

Winds of 15 to 30 miles per hour are producing blowing and drifting snow in outlying areas.

I had no problem with my street not being plowed. It really wasn't that bad. But I just got home from going across town (I live on South Side) and this moron at the 5 points intersection decided it was his turn to go on the red light. He turned off of Court St left onto Center Ave. He almost plowed right into a pick-up which in turn would have hit me. People really need to watch what they are doing. It may not be extremely slippery out but there are some slick spots. The man ended up having to back up and go around the center divider because he was facing oncoming traffic. He is lucky noone was coming in that direction. Please please please people be cautious, if your not comfortable driving in the snow find someone who will drive you.

I went to work an hour early today. My guess is the snowplow saw my car wasn't in the driveway and figured since they couldn't plow me in, there was no point in plowing anything.
.
Note to the turkey in the white pickup who turned onto Milton Avenue from Mt. Zion just before 8:00 AM. Right Turn On Red does NOT mean wait until 2 lanes of Milton Avenue traffic get the green light and are coming at you before you gun your engine and let your underperfoming tires move you out into traffic where you lost traction in the slushy snow.

Why is everyone complaining. It's the beginning of the season and the last time I checked the roads seemed passable.

I was driving my kids to school and then to work between 7:30 and 8:00 and it looked like most of the roads were untouched (not the residential side streets but the main roads). I expected at least the hills to be worked on. If this is a sign of things to come this winter, it is going to be a long winter.

The salt truck was out on Morningside Drive last night and Mt. Zion looked like it was plowed this morning.

Highway 14 east in Rock County was a mess at 6:15 this morning. The westbound lane was blown shut in a couple of places and a car was blocking traffic and the plow. They couldn't get around because a car going east bound at 15 MPH had a 70-100 car train behind it from Emerald Grove to the stop sign at 89 and 14. If you can't drive over 15 mph, wait until 8:00.

I've been out since 5am myself and I don't think the roads are that bad. If the money is coming directly out of my wallet to salt and /or plow, I say let it go. If the plows go out now all they are going to do is scrape the loose stuff off the pack anyway. Let's save the plowing dollars for when we really need it.

ok no plows how about salt. I was out at 4:30 this morning on center ave. kellogg and jackson neither street looked better than my residential street. And my street isnt so residential. You cant honestly tell me that they could not have dropped some salt or something by 4:30

I'm pretty sure the plows were unnecessary on the main roads this morning. Temps have been right around 32 throughout this whole storm, so the heavily travelled roads had very little accumulation. Salt did just fine. If you're concerned about your residential street being cleared, I'm sure they are working on it. They can't clear every street immediately.

We are not south eastern Wisconsin. If you look at where the story originates, the range is correct.
