Water park company files for bankruptcy
WARRENS, Wis. (AP) The owners of a central Wisconsin water park and campground have filed for bankruptcy two months after closing the recreational property.
Van Der Molen Recreational Properties filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Chicago on Nov. 26.

we all pay for all of our parks.
at one of the meetings with city officials, they praised the attitudes and politeness of the users of the pet exercise area of palmer park, adding, "it has one of the lowest maintenance costs of any of our city parks."
that's because dog owners use it so much and keep it clean.

Dog exercise areas are found in designated portions of Palmer Park and the Rock River Parkway. You may use them daily from 5:00AM to 11:00PM year-round - City of Janesville website.

it is warens, wi. se of black river falls, cranberry festival of wisconsin every sept. they couldn't build these condo/log cabins fast enough and try to sell them for 3 times what they were worth, giving the buyers a great view of the interstate. go a little further to hatfield and get yourself a real log cabin on real acerage. for half the price

ihavealife and gabby - You haven't seen Magic Waters lately have you? They are doing SO bad they are building more slides so they're not making any money are they? and the interstate off ramp to bypass 20 has been moved so it no longer will be right next to the park.
justsome1here- what dog park are Janesville taxpayers paying for? The only dog park I know being built is in Milton.

Yup . . the taxpayers of Janesville get to pay for a dog park but yet the hours for the pools at both Riverside and Palmer have been cut so the KIDS of this community get short changed once again. Gee . . and some people refuse to see that this is a perfect example of this city going to the dogs!

That's sad. I have fond memories of Jellystone. On the topic of Magic Waters, yes it's right next to the interstate, but you really don't notice it when you're there. I don't think Janesville could support a water park that close to Rockford. They also have the Coco key indoor water park down there...only about 30 minutes on the freeway.

I made a reservation for November at Warrens back in August, and, naturally, the first night was charged to my credit card($158.00) I called and cancelled this reservation at the end of August and was told that I would get a refund on my card within 30 to 60 days. I am still waiting, and now I understand why. I have learned the hard way that reservations should be made as close to the needed date as possible.

Exactly my point, used2be.
Losing this park, or should I say what this park used 2 be, was like losing a good friend. I was so sad to see it grow so big that it wasn't peaceful anymore.
I've tried the Yogi in Fort and it just isn't even close to what Warrens was in the beginning. Have you had any luck finding a campground that reminds you of the Warrens that you and I remember?

The Whitewater indoor aquatic center has always been struggling. The economy doesn't help but I always thought it was not a good idea to build that aquactic center. They should have invested in the Trippe Lake area, which they are now looking into. Could have saved alot of money. When they built the new high school, I don't know why they didn't add a pool into the school plans.

The thing with Magic Waters is it is RIGHT next to the interstate. Some of the slides ALMOST look like they are going right over the top of the interstate. If there was a water park here not so close to the interstate it may help Janesville a little. But I prefer to go to the Dells for the weekend. It gets us out of the house and away from Janesville for a while. I've never been to Warrens but we were actually trying to plan something there this summer. We pass it going to my dads house north of Eau Claire. Guess we won't now!

I also used to go to the Jellystone in Warren. It was fun but when they added the whole water park thing it just got crazy it wasn't peaceful anymore. My kids loved it when it was small and just had the one waterslide.

My family started going to Warrens on accident. I thought I had reservations at the Yogi in the Dells, only to arrive there and be told my reservations were in Warrens. So, a couple hours later we arrived there. This was 16 years ago. A little campground in the middle of nowhere. 2 swimming pools, wadding pool, WATERSLIDE!(sorry, you didn't see that often back then), a beach, mini-putt and outside theater. Oh, and a fishing hole. Sunday morning clean the park for your breakfast day. I was a little excited to see the sign for the Warrens Mall and thought that could be fun. Our adventure the next day to find the Mall was a laugh. Anyone who has been there, will understand. The Warrens Mall is little more than a gas station with t-shirts. Anyhoo..my family fell in love with the place. The fun family events scheduled every weekend, the outside movies, the hayride with the bears, etc. My daughter even got to play one of the bears years later. We went back year after year after year. We started in a tent, then a pop-up, tried a couple cabins and finally in our rv. Warrens was a part of us and something that we looked forward to every single year. Until the waterpark. The fun family events that no one came to anymore, not even an employee to run it. Instead of daddy's dancing with their little girls, the Friday and Saturday band nights were filled with drunk people sitting in golf carts. The "family" feeling, the clean, wholesome feeling was gone. Too many people, too much booze, too big. My kids decided 3 years ago they didn't want to go there anymore. It just wasn't the same.
It's really to bad. They really had a great thing going. A wonderful family retreat. I am sorry to see that gone but honestly, it was gone years ago.

IHAVEALIFE.... Water Park or something else touristy. I've often thought about the huge volumes of flat landers that drive right on past Janesville each weekend. Just think if we had something big and exciting for them to stop HERE. The attractiveness of driving 1 hour to get to Janesville vs. driving 2+ hours to get to the Dells would be a factor. If I had a few million, I would build a huge complex right on the side of I90 and I'd bet you pack the place--ONLY if it was nice. Going half baked with an idea like this would not fly at all.

It's sad to see Three Bears close. It was a nice place. Great spot for a family vacation, reunion, camping trip or weekend getaway.

Have you ever been up there ihavealife? It isn't exactly a tourist trap of an area. I am surprised it lasted as long as it did! There is alot more around here that would draw people other than open wilderness.
