DNR adds to northern Wisconsin park
The state Natural Resources Board on Wednesday approved spending $646,000 to acquire an additional 64 acres for Harrington Beach State Park on the Lake Michigan shoreline in northern Ozaukee County.
Funds for acquiring two parcels -- 10 acres from Michael Ansay and 54 acres from Family Enterprises, which is associated with the Ansay family -- would come from bond debt previously approved by the Legislature for the Stewardship land conservation program. The seven-member board unanimously approved the acquisitions at its regular monthly meeting in Madison.
The properties are adjacent to the northwest boundary of the 700-acre park, south of county Highway D and east of Lake Church Road. Much of the gently rolling landscape currently is used for agriculture.

Wasn't Governor Doyle in Washington last week begging for money? The Governor needs to tell the natural resource board that Wisconsin is broke! Stop buying and start selling!
