From the Wisconsin Emergency Operations Center:

The State of Wisconsin is monitoring another major winter storm that will hit Wisconsin today bringing more heavy snow, winds and bitter cold temperatures. The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings for the following counties: Adams, Ashland, Baron, Bayfield, Buffalo, Burnett, Chippewa, Clark, Crawford, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Grant, Iron, Jackson, Juneau, La Crosse, Monroe, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Price, Richland, Rusk, Sawyer, St. Croix, Taylor, Trempealeau, Vernon, and Washburn. This warning is in effect until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Rock County is under a winter weather advisory from 6 p.m. today to 6 p.m. Sunday. A wind chill advisory will take effect at from 3 a.m. Sunday to midnight Monday.

Moderate to heavy snow will move northeast through Wisconsin bringing the potential of 8-12 inches of snow north of I-90 and 4-8 inches south before tapering off on Sunday. Strong winds on Sunday will also cause considerable blowing and drifting snow with dangerous wind chills as low as 29 degrees below zero.

Road conditions remain snow packed and slippery from yesterday’s storm. Motorists should be prepared for treacherous driving conditions as more snow falls. Current winter road conditions are available by calling the Department of Transportation (DOT) 511 Traveler Information System. 511 is a one-stop source for timely and easily accessible traffic and road condition information on Wisconsin’s main highways, including the Interstate system. Information is also available at the DOT website at http://www.dot.wi.gov/travel/driving-cond.htm.

Both the Wisconsin National Guard’s Joint Operations Center (JOC) and the Wisconsin Emergency Management 24 Hour Duty Officer will monitor the storms. The State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be not activated at this time; however that could change if conditions continue to deteriorate.

Global Warming - I remember David Letterman saying that George Bush was going to fight global warming. Matter of fact, story is that Bush was going to send 20,000 troops to the sun. :-)

"But I thought Al Gore said we were in the middle of global warming??"
Actually, alot of people have said it but he got the most press.
Tell me something, are you able to sense a 1/2 degree change in temperature? The Earth can.
Think about it.

A storm warning for an inch of snow? I got up expecting to see another dumping, but the sun is shinning and my cars not even covered.

No more snow please. I have 2 small dogs and they are getting lost in the yard. They hop into the snow and all I see is their heads sticking out.

Story should read, "State warns of coming ice age". This year already, there has been 1500 cold temp records broken and 770 new snow records broken. Go to www.iceagenow.com

Thank you MiKKi - It's obvious that you are highly intelligent. :-) I do have one problem with my snow creation - it's not a snowman, it's a snowGIRL and she keeps giving me the cold shoulder.

Thanks mack, I will be out there tomorrow looking. I had ankle surgery on Monday and I am paying someone $40 each snow to plow my driveway. Since it seems to snow every other day this month, it's getting pretty expensive.

I know this is the million dollar question, but does anyone here know of a place in Janesville or near by that has any snow blowers left. Sears is sold out and the sales people were very rude anyways. If you know of any place and a ballpark price, please let me know.

Just wondering why I'm having so much trouble building a blonde snowman outside. Could it be that I forgot to hollow out the head?

Has to really frustrate those who sell winter "toys". Here is all this wonderfully fresh, white powder and people can't afford to buy the toys to play on it with. *sigh*
