sgtskid...not that I dispute anything you claim...but could you please provide the statute numbers that exempt plows from the stop requirements and lighting specs.?

Thanks.

I've driven a municipal plow for about 10 years. Snowplows are not required to make complete stops. They are the only emergency vehicle required to have 360 degree emergency lighting, not even police/fire/ems have that requirement. It is nearly impossible to start again from a complete stop due to the snow on the blade and traction. Common sense, of course we do all we can not to cause accidents or property damage. We try to make streets safe. I drive in to work before the plows come out so I know better than most what that is like. We have to get the job done correctly, and also not dillydally because overtime is expensive. I would encourage all the pissed off people to seek a ride along. You'll see that it's not as easy as it seems. I have never plowed over 25mph. Only County Hwy or interstate trucks are capable of higher speeds on wide open straight roads without stop signs. Everyone please just relax, take a breath, realize we aren't abusing our trucks size or the law. I'm also an EMT/Firefighter and see the result of driving aggressive and too fast for conditions. Give us room and give us a break. I don't risk my life getting to work just to piss people off, nor do I know any other Municipal drivers that do.

Where did the story say anything about a plow being invloved?

And as far as plow drivers not stopping at stop signs (I've never seen this...) but good grief... if the weather is crappy or the roads are snow covered and slippery... what person, in their right mind would drive like it was the middle of the summer? Defensive driving is the key...

Also, besides the fact that these rigs are huge, they also have revolving yellow flashing lights. How could ANYONE miss seeing them coming your way? Stop sign or not... if you're at an intersection and ACTUALLY looking BOTH ways before crossing, you would certainly see them.

And if you're following the law and paying attention to oncoming and crossing traffic, driving defensively... none of this would be an issue. A driver is supposed to enter a crossing road with caution and care.

That said, I would say, the biggest idiots on our roads are the jerks that drive with aggression and tail gate to the point that they must be catching a buzz off the fumes of the vehicle in front of them.

Back off people... take care and learn what defensive driving REALLY means!

as far as a blind eye thats the one most drivers use when they are stoped and drive infront of a moving truck just because they have there layers name on speed dial

miy i dont think think your 8ft x 2anda half foot blade can compair to a 11 by 4and a half ft blade with a two wheel drive is a good comp. but seeing you are prodriver then you know how dumb people get in the way then bitch all they have to do is try to work with the plow then go WONT HAPPEN WE ARE ALL MORE ABOUT OURSELF THAN THE NEXT GUY

wist, I used to plow our work lots. If a 3/4 ton 4x4 can push the "tons of snow" from a dead stop, a med duty topkick with 5 yds of sand or salt in the back shouldnt have much problems either.

They should be stopping at stop signs and lights. I seriously doubt theres a law that allows them to run them. Cops may just turn a blind eye towards it though.

Maybe they should stay off the road and let god take it away he put it there. Then the roadhog plow drivers wont get hurt or hurt all the stuprd people that don,t have a clue they just have time to bitch . All they do is go out to make themself targets to dumb @$$ people. YES I AM BEING RUDE TO DUMB PEOPLE REMBER REMEMBER YOU CANT FIX STUPED. GOOD JOB PLOW DRIVERS JUST DO THE BEST YOU CAN DO.

Wow, I wish I could use that excuse if I went through a stop sign.
LOL....yeah. Some of US don't have traction, either.

There was a plow on Kellogg last week, sat there for who knows HOW long. Guess that old joke is true, what's orange and sleeps 2?

The plows do the same thing in Whitewater. I was told that by law they do not have to stop.

That's odd that you mention the snow plow...the exact same thing happened to me this morning as well. I was coming out of my subdivision coming down wuthering hills when a snow plow on ruger went right threw the intersection, doing at least 40! They wonder why people have a negative view twords them...

hmm wonder if this accident was caused by a city plow. I was stopped at the intersection of Ruger and Wright rd this morning and was ready to go when a City Plow didnt even attempt to stop at his stop sign, he was traveling at least 40 mph and almost hit me!

Couldn't someone at the print building look out the window, and confirm the blockage?

Who cares as to why it's blocked, go another route if having to travel in that area.
