A woman charged with stabbing her boyfriend in Beloit Township made her first appearance in Rock County Court today.

Tanya Y. Greer, 1938 Harrison Ave., Beloit, was charged with first-degree reckless injury. She is free on a $5,000 cash bond.

Her boyfriend, James A. Holzbauer, 29, is listed in critical condition at University Hospital in Madison.

According to the criminal complaint:

Town of Beloit police officers responded to Greer’s home at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday and found Holzbauer at the end of the driveway in large pool of blood. Greer was at his side, putting pressure on the wound to stop it from bleeding.

Greer told police that she grabbed a knife and struck Holzbauer after it looked like he was going to hit her.

You said it right Irishlady! If this were my brother I WOULD be on here saying the same things and I WOULD have said it to his face as well. Its obvious these two BOTH have serious problems and need help and need to be seperated especially if children are involved. I've been in bad relationships and I know you cant just say "OK its over" sometimes but if you have kids that are exposed to this kind of "love" then you need to start thinking about them and stop being so selfish!!

I do know one of them and louie were you there that night Apparently some one was injured seriously and it could have been prevented. Cherelle I read your other post as to the reasons why the police were called you said she did it to get him out of the house well why didnt he JUST LEAVE? usually the victim will recant her statement in domestic violence cases and there are many that do. Some reasons are they fear worse will come when they get out or there are kids involved the reasons go on and on and on. it still does not make it right! I hope your brother comes through this okay and I hope they Both get help for the problems they seem to have. IMO if she told the court in the previous incidents it never happened then he wouldnt have been convicted, Maybe if family members would accept that their brothers, sisters or whoever have a problem with this type of behavior and not protect them or justify the reasons and blame the system or enable the abuser, If they confronted the person just maybe they would get help.......IMO maybe this was another wake up call for people to take a serious look and do something!!! Before we have another Edgerton or Janesville incident. Those both ended in murder/suicide and one left children behind...................Wake up and see behind the puppydog eyes and yes we love our own family and want to believe they wouldnt do this well they do, and so many cases are there to prove it and everyone of those charged or victimized were a brother/sister/son/daughter/mom/dad/relative/friend to SOMEBODY (so it does happen)

HAHAHA you know what makes me laugh??? You morons that call yourselves human... Yup thats what i said.. MORONS!!! There is a 29 year old man that is hanging on for his life... DO YOU GET THAT??? i realize that probably none of you know either of them but i do and very well for that matter... regardless of the violent past that you see on his record did you ever consider the fact that she has admitted in court that she LIED??? She just said to the police that he hit her to get him out of the house?? Yea that's right you read that right... She lied... So maybe he wasn't trying to hit her when she decided to stab him and allow 4 of the 5 quarts of blood that your body holds to stream out of his neck in front of her 9 year old son... Have a heart people and realize that famly does read these comments. Including his mother, father, siblings, and all sorts of family.. What if this were your family?? Would you really be thinking the things you are saying on here??? Please just have a heart.. PLEASE... I love you James and we all miss you!!! Cant wait until you make it home sweetheart!!!

Wonder if we'll be seeing another "What Went Wrong" story by the Gazette on this one. My guess is no since the demographics on this story are turned the other way around.

It's Rock County. She will be offered a plea and be found guilty for county ordinance Disorderly Conduct. Maybe she will be given the "Workender" program!

I'm making an assumption they were both drunk. 2:40 a.m. - perhaps they "closed the bars" then just got into a "scrap". Ridiculous...

Domestic violence is no joke, garyprimer, as this city recently has seen first hand.

It looked like he was going to hit her...I'd say it looked more like she was going to stab him...
