mr. Black, if they are our taxes, then it is our deficit that we need to pay down. The way you do that is by cutting spending and increasing revenue. First place that i would save money, GET OUT OF IRAQ! That would really be supporting the troops. Why do we continue to pour money down that rathole with no chance of return and not do anything for our infrastucture and our people? The answer is because we get caught up in sound bites and don't know the issues. Free yourself from the politics of fear or continue to be part of the Dumbocracy.

How about cutting wasteful spending and "pork" projects. I think both parties are guilty of those 2 things, you got to support the troops though. Sooner or later this country is going to realize that going to Iraq was in our best interests. Bush had bad intelligence on where the WMD were, but even Pres Clinton said that Iraq had it at one time and I don't think anyone can dispute the fact that Saddaam could easily get his hands on it. We're all better off because that guy is out of there. I say that even with the knowledge that 3 of my friends have been killed in Iraq during this war.

Unfortunately taxes need to be raised. In case you haven't heard, President Bush started a war that has cost trillions of dollars. How else do you expect us to pay for that?

Are you in some way infering that the closing of shakeys was in any way remotely associated with george bush being in the white house? Have you ever eaten there? the place was a dive, the food was terrible and the service was worse, even for a buffet. It was only a matter of time, im surprised shakeys made it this long, considering the last 8 years ive lived in janesville/milton ive seen maybe 5 cars at the most in shakeys parking lot at any 1 time.

I almost hope that a Democrat will get elected so everyone can see that there is something worse then Bush, ie: Clinton or Obama. How is everyone going to like higher taxes? Think of your tax returns this year, in 2 years they will not be as high with a Democrat in control. Remember that is not the government's money, that is your money.. As for the job issue-do you really think whoever's in the White house will be able to stop the loss of union jobs to other countries when we demand $25-50/hr when China and Mexico pay less than $5/hr. I am an IBEW member, but it's time people wake up and realize that Pres Bush is not the reason for all this countries' problems. Snazzy: I will be a proud American regardless of who is in the White House, I spent 10 years of my life in the US Army and went to the 1st Gulf war. There was a definate change of morale in the military between the 1st Bush and Clinton. Don't think I was an officer either. I went from a Private to a Sergeant First Class so I saw the end of the totem pole.

Wow, maybe you should have eaten more at Shakey's. I wouldn't blame Bush, point a finger at your Gov. Doyle. I guess you don't remember GM under the Carter reign.

With the closeing of Shakeys in Janesville that will mean the loss of jobs in the area over the last 8 years under President Bush Rock County has lost atlest 5 companies from the area this includes the buy outs of workers contracts at the GM Plant in Janesville I fell that Obama would ne the type of President that would make companies accountable when they leave after being here a long time htere seem to be fewer an fewer Jobs in Rock County an the Job Centers Web site has posted less Job Opertunities in Recent Months we can handle 4 more year off a republican white house we need the Jobs now an we cant afford to wait much longer or Janesville will not have may low income people liveing here much longer we need new jobs now or this city will suffer dier consequences for the citys inabilitty to create jobs for the people who live here an i hope the city council is paying close atention to this
