From the City of Janesville:

Snow Emergency Declared for Monday, February 11, 2008 at 11:00 p.m.

The City of Janesville has declared a snow emergency for Monday, February 11, 2008 starting at 11:00 p.m. A snow emergency means that all vehicles must be removed from city streets and public parking lots until snow plowing operations are complete. To ensure that you do not receive a parking ticket, please move your vehicle prior to 11:00 p.m. and keep your vehicle off city streets until they have been completely plowed.

The best place to park during a snow emergency is in your garage or driveway. If you are unable to park in a driveway or garage, please park in one of the designated snow emergency parking stalls. These stalls are located in the six downtown municipal parking lots listed below.

  1. East Wall Street Lot at East Wall Street & North Parker Drive

  2. Municipal Building Lot at West Wall Street & North Jackson Street

  3. South High Street Lot at West Court Street & South High Street

  4. Senior Center Lot at St. Lawrence Avenue & Water Street

  5. Hedberg Public Library Lot on Water Street

  6. River/Union Street Lot at South River Street & Union Street

When you arrive at the lot, look for the signs designating the snow emergency parking stalls. Fines for parking on the streets during a snow emergency are $20. The Police Department may begin issuing tickets to violators before plowing operations begin.

DOC you seem very upset about this S-10 pick-up. Have you called JPD? If you haven't maybe you should.

I just got up went outside and looked up and down my street 1200 to 1500 block of Hawthorne What A joke these people don't care about what the city says I counted 11 cars still on the road and its now 4:11am and that includes the S-10 Blue P/U that has not moved..... Is'nt there A law against Abandend Vehicles and how long A vehicle can sit in one spot? AHHHHHH This Blue truck has went way over that and then some! Its no wonder that there are so many other cars out on my street during this snow emergency!!!!!! Whatever maybe I should get my cars out of the garage and put them in the street, My luck I'd get A ticket! Hey JPD Cruze down Hawthorne between Pontiac and Lexington..... And while your at it TOW THAT S-10 AWAY its now making it unsafe to drive down my street with thew snow piled up into the middle of the street! To Protect is'nt that the first part of you're guys slogan? Well protect me from unsafe driving and on my street!

Park next to the driveway park in the yard,Just get off the street! You make it much worse than you realize, once the snow has been plowed some streets still don't have room if you left you're vehicle on the street once the plows went around you're abandond car! I live on Hawthorne Ave and there is an S-10 P/U Blue in color as if you could tell at this point, has not moved since Aug 07! Why is it still there? You can almost see the abandond truck its in the 2500-2600 block of Hawthorne Ave- Obviously the Police could care less about local laws otherwise this truck would have been towed months ago! Instead it now has been plowed around and is buried and now the drift and plowing goes all the way out to the middle of the street!!!!!!! Yup thats just great! way to go Janesville! Again this just shows how parking laws get inforced in certain areas and not in others! I remember back in 1996 I had 3 vehicles and Ihad no garage or driveway on A certain Saturday........ (Most of the time I would put the cars around t5he yard) The storm started late Friday went all day Saturday, At which time all 3 of my cars were ticketed and by Sunday 2:00 the snow was all melting all 3 of my cars had no snow left on them but they all had tickets and.........., MY STREET NEVER DID GET PLOWED THAT WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This may be a stupid question but why can't we have opposite side parking? Or odd and even? Whatever you want to call it. We have a one car garge and a small driveway with four vehicles. I know other people are in this problem too. We don't have enough room and yes we need all of our vehicles! I don't want to get a ticket because I don't have room but I also don't want to drive all the way downtown to park my car! I guess I'll pay the $20 ticket!

The City of Beloit leaves that task to Civil Service Officers and "parking cops." Does Janesville so this as well?
