Two accused in death of Beloit man
VIROQUA, Wis. (AP) - Two cousins from Gays Mills accused in a fatal bar fight are free on bond.
David and Mikeal Heisz have not been charged in the death of a Beloit man outside a Readstown bar, but appeared in Vernon County Circuit Court yesterday for a bail hearing.
Kelly Kuykendall owns a cabin in the area and was at Pat's Corner Bar last Wednesday night.
A sheriff's investigator testified yesterday at least six people stood outside the bar and watched as Kuykendall was fatally beaten.
Investigator Scott Bjerkos testified Mikeal Heisz attacked Kuykendall in the bar about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. He says David Heisz then dragged Kuykendall out the front door and punched him.
Bjerkos says Kuykendall was left unconscious as the cousins fled.
David Heisz posted $10,000 cash bond. Mikeal Heisz was released on a signature bond.

The autopsy report states Kelly had a fractured skull and brain hemorrhaging, fractured ribs and liver damage. Witnesses also state that Kelly did not try to fight back. He didn't throw one punch.
How the hell does a crowd of 6 or so people stand there and let a man get beaten to death?
Kelly was a co-worker of mine. His death could have been prevented...especially since he was not the type to fight. The lookieloos could have stepped up and stopped the two on one beat-down.
I hope those people are haunted for the rest of their lives. Kelly will be missed.

liberte- Sadly, it's not surprising. http://www.salon.com/mwt/broadsheet/2007...
Are you familiar with the phrase 'Sing a little louder?' It's a famous phrase left over from WWII when German people in church services could hear the cries the persecuted being killed or loaded into boxcars. A they preached the word of Christ, they sang his praises a little louder to ignore the evil outside.
It's one of the most common traits of man to not act out of sync with the mob, and to ridicule others for doing so.

How many remember Friday, August 13, 1971 when a Readstown native was killed in Beloit by a Beloit resident... also at a bar scene.

I wonder what caused the confrontation? I have a suspicion that it was something really stupid and politically incorrect. Tragic.

Regardless of where it happened six people stood and watched two drunken thugs beat a person who offered no defense to death. It's sickening.
