Opening statements expected today in poisoning death of wife
ELKHORN, Wis. (AP) - Opening statements are expected today in the case of Mark Jensen, who is accused of poisoning his wife to death.
Julie Jensen was found dead in her Pleasant Prairie home in 1998 of ethylene glycol poisoning.
Her husband Mark Jensen was charged in 2002, but legal wrangling over evidence delayed his trial until now.
A jury was selected on Friday and opening statements are expected tomorrow. The trial could last six to eight weeks.
The prosecution claims Mark Jensen killed his wife, but his defense attorney claims Julie Jensen killed herself.
Her family has put together a Web site as a memorial to her. The Web site -- www.oursisterjulie.com -- features a biography, family photos, a timeline of her life with Mark Jensen, facts about ethylene glycol poisoning and a letter Julie Jensen wrote, pointing the finger at her husband if she were to die.
