People forget that big news does not have to be about murders, bombings, etc. It can be news about thriving national/international businesses in town, news relating to the arts (when I talk about arts, I am referring to national acts that are touring the country and end up in your city, not little community theatre). Interesting news could also be related to a local company that has gained a significant advancement in science or technology that will help on an international level. I am sorry, but if a barn fire is biggest news story in Janesville, then there isn't much going on or will anytime soon. I could see this as the front page story in one of the small town papers (i.e. Milton Courier, Whitewater Register).

We live in Wisconsin, and a barn fire is big news to many people here. I think we're blessed to live in a place where this is big news, and not over shadowed by murders, bombings, starvation, disease, and all the other things we read about.

What's wrong with the news. They just don't show everything they should.
