MILTON—An early-morning accident ended in two drunken driving arrests and one trip to the hospital Tuesday.

Milton police responded to an accident on North Clear Lake Avenue near Rivendell Drive at 2:36 a.m., according to a news release from the department. A vehicle driven by Rebecca L. Clark, 25, of 4623 Harmony Townhall Road, rural Milton, crossed the centerline and collided with a vehicle driven by Brittany E. Boeche, 20, of 1103 Columbus Circle, Janesville, the release said.

Clark was arrested on a charge of causing injury by drunken driving and cited for driving left of center, the release said. Boeche was arrested on a drunken driving charge.

Clark was ejected from her vehicle and treated and released at Mercy Hospital. Boeche sustained minor injuries but refused ambulance transport, the release said.

You are correct .08 is the figure. .8 the person would be unconscious and most probably very dead.

Nurse: Isn't it .08 rather than .8? Wouldn't someone be quite dead at .8% blood alcahol level? Just wondering?

EDUCATION IS THE KEY! BUT STUPIDITY RULES IN THIS CASE. I AM A LIFE LONG RESIDENT OF MILTON AND I PERSONALLY THINK IT IS THE EHTANOL FUMES AFFECTING PEOPLE. THANK GOD THAT ETHANOL PLANT IS SAFE FOR PEOPLE! NOT!

I hope these people learned about the drinking and driving...not everyone is invincable...i learned at a very very young age about drinking and driving...I was about 4 yrs old when my dad was rideing his motorcycle and he was hit by a drunk driver...thank god my dad survived, but ever since then i always swore never to drink and drive, or ride a motor cycle...i also was hit by a drunk driver a few years ago, and the lady took off after she hit me...and as soon as i gave the cops her license plate number the cop said ohh great i know who that is and shes a multiple offender...i just hope that these young kids learned...but who knows...

They actually do have a type of device, an ignition lock on the car that won't let you start your engine until you blow into the attached breathalyzer..of course someone could probably blow for you..but then they could probably drive for them to.

oh and one other thing from what my boyfriend told me, have to say Clark was not thrown from her car, as her driver door was opened.....

along with what he has told me and what he showed me from the video he took, yes they where all drunk both females and the male...

the video shows so much of what happened too bad it is very dark, and before this came out while talking to him I told him that the girl on the ground was drunk too, just tried to get out of her car and she did a face plant on the ground!!!!

Truth1 says
""Did the alcohol "accidentally" get into the driver's system, or did the driver CHOOSE to drink and drive???????""Its NOT an "accident"..!!!!!

You need a semantics lesson. Intentionally choosing to drink and intentionally choosing to crash your car are two totally different issues. While one can choose to drink, it doesn't follow that a resulting traffic accident becomes "intentional" While drinking increases the likelihood of an accident it doesn't make the accident, intentional.

unfortunatly mytake4u, what good would getting their licenses jerked be? You read this paper, it's written almost everday about people without licenses, multiple drunk driving arrests, committing the same thing over and over. A license is just a little plastic card that seems to mean nothing to too many people.
There has to be a better way to keep people out from behind the wheel, and it has to be found soon. This may be the 1st time for these 2 drivers, but what can be done to make sure it is the last? Having a revoked license is just a joke.

Have to say as the girlfriend of the guy who called and made the report of this, someone who knows more then what is printed here....

Don't know when it happened, he was on his way to work, and came on it. The girl who was not planted on the pavement, was in her car hugging the guy she was with. None of them even knew what happened. I don't feel sorry for any of them they choose to drink and drive.

Fools....

STH 59 (Clear Lake Avenue) is no "backroad"......Runs righ thru the heart of the City....Also, how does this reflect upon Milon, as the early posts were inferring? If one driver was from Connecticut, and one from Idaho, and they collide in Milton, is that Milton's problem? Get a clue, and stop with the silliness! THINK....BEFORE...YOU SPEAK....It's late at night, drunks are on the road, and two collide.......(Gasp!) I'm shocked.

Must be a popular "backroad" to avoid the police at bartime.

Thank goodness no one "innocent" was hurt.

u assume correctly prevention and thank you. kudos to marymac too!! the main way to cure this epidemic i believe is your screen name. we need to spend more time educating our kids, and the younger the better about the perils of drunk driving. its sad to read every one of these stories cuz i know exactly what they are thinking today. it seems like no end so the only thing to do is drink some more, maybe not tonite, but some nite, and if you have the personality to drive once, you WILL drunk drive again, a LARGE majority anyways.

I'm just happy neither one of them got seriousely injured or injured anyone else.
Many people have received OWIs, it doesn't take alot of alcohol to reach that 0.8 limit. I saw on Tyra's talk show she followed girls to the bars and the ones that swore they were sober enough to drive (and had driven) after so many drinks and they gave breathalyzers and they All flunked them.. they were shocked that they were over..and the tests were done by California Highway Patrol..

Alcohol drinking has no age limit anymore..... If you want to drink there are ways to get it I drank from the age of 13 and never had a problem getting it. I got served in bars at age 15. I no longer drink and am so grateful I never hurt anyone when I chose to drink and drive and yes I did recieve OWIs and the last 11 years I have not had any citations for alcohol related behaviors as I do not drink anymore and magically those tickets disappeared along with the behaviors Now that seems to have solved issues such as the article we have just read.

A 20 yr old drunk driving? Last time I checked you needed to be 21 to drink.
****************************************
You can not assume a certain speed based on the 25 yr old being ejected from the car. Many factors would decide if she was tossed. Speed is just one of them. If the car rolled over, the forces change completely. A rollover at only 11 mph has been proven to produce enough energy to toss an occupant.
