County H to close
JANESVILLE
County H between Highways 11 and 14 will be closed for bridge replacement over Marsh Creek beginning Wednesday.
The road is scheduled to reopen by about Oct. 31.
The road will not be open to through traffic, including emergency vehicles. Local access only will be available, said Ben Coopman, Rock County public works director.
The detour route will be Highway 11, east to County B, continuing east on County B to West Court Street in Janesville, continuing east on Court Street to Highway 51 (Center Avenue), north on Highway 51 through Janesville to Highway 14, then west on Highway 14 to County H.
Because of utility construction on an unrelated project on County A (Memorial Drive), County A will be detoured onto the southern portion of County H. But through traffic on County H will not be able to get through between County A and Highway 14, Coopman said.

They have to use state routes for an official state detour. They know that most people using that detour will be none locals. Locals will most likely use those roads you mentioned.

Why is Cty H closed south of A? The bridge is between 14 and A. The bridge out signs were dropped off last week in that area. I don't remember seeing them south of A, though.
Better options than the detour between A and 14 include Burdick, Rohtery, or Polzin Roads.

Well, the County H detour runs on county and state highways through Janesville and back to County H:
.
H to 11/Court to Center/51 to 14 back to H. The only other alternative for a detour would be via 213 and M, which is longer. Obviously, if you aren't through traffic, there are local roads that can be a shorter detour.
.
At the same time, the part of County H short of the bridge work remains open and, ironically, is serving as a detour for County A.

Who on earth wrote this? These directions don't make any sense! From the sounds of it, they're creating a detour onto a closed road!
