JANESVILLE--Janesville police are searching the area around Delavan Drive and Jackson Street and the bike path near the General Motors plant for a reported armed robber.

It is unclear who the suspect attempted to rob, but according to police scanner reports, the man was armed with a knife and demanded money.

Wilson is the nearest elementary school, but it's 0.3 mi across the bridge and then 0.4 mi down Rockport.
.
Considering that other than the bars, Screamin' MeeMees, and the gas station, there really isn't anything near there to draw huge amounts of traffic, it's a fairly desolate corner most of the time. I ride my bike along the trail there and rarely encounter anyone, even fishermen.
.
I don't think it's really a rap on the Fourth Ward to assume that a perpetrator of an armed robbery in this neighborhood lives right up the street. What we in the Fourth Ward want is prompt attention to such problems, not some kind of Pleasantville where they never, ever happen. In general, we're happy with the police presence and response to such incidents.

Opinionsforfree,

What are you trying to say, "Just patrol the forthward. I'm sure he will turn up there." Stop stereotyping! First of all there is hard working people in the forthward also not just people that fall in society and commit crimes. What if the person live over in rich neigborhoods like wuthering hills or something. Don't always susspect that just because a crime happened in a rough part of the city, the suspect is also from that area. People from all races, backgrounds and levels of society commit crimes.
