MONROE, Wis. (AP) - A Brodhead man is due in court today on charges of beating one of his twin 2-month-old sons to death and injuring the other one.

Thirty-two-year-old Casey Shelton is scheduled for a status conference this morning in Green County.

Shelton is accused of shaking one twin last month, causing the boy's head to hit an unknown object.

The boy suffered a skull fracture and leg injuries, and later died.

Prosecutors say Shelton had also abused the boy earlier, allegedly fracturing the boy's ribs by squeezing them with his hands.

Shelton is also accused of picking up the other twin and throwing him to the floor.

He's charged with first-degree reckless homicide and two counts of child abuse. The three felony charges carry a maximum penalty of 76 years in prison and a $35,000 fine.

How do you know that the mother ignored her child and let the abuse happen? The article doesn't even mention the mother. You can't bash the mom without knowing all of the details.

I think the Mother should be punished also . She knew what was going on and chose to ignore it . I prey the Only Twin left should be taken away from both of them and put in a stable , loving environment where there is no violence and a great future ahead . He has been through enough that can cause him to have nightmares for the rest of his life and needs to cuddled like a Baby should be .

Probation for murder? Yep, more often than you realize.
This link is from Texas but it happens everywhere.

giveahoot: you have got to be kidding me! Do you honestly think that when he is found guilty of killing his child that he will just get probation?!
The stupidity of your comment is unbelievable.

I had twin girls 4 1/2 years ago and one was born silent. I would have done anything to have both my babies safe and healthy. This makes me sick to my stomach. Losing a child is heartbreaking and having "one twin" is awful. I can't even imagine how horrible it will be when that poor little boy finds out his own father killed his twin :( I hope the rest of his life is gentle. I hope his father gets what he deserves.

This happened to the poor baby last year...not last month. I hope Shelton gets what he deserves.

If this turns out to be true the guy should get life, but probably will get much less. Our society has turned into one that really has more value for the lives of animals than it does for humans- especially young children.

If this guy were guilty of killing a cat there would be protesters calling for his head, but because he killed a baby he will probably get probation.

Roe v Wade has done damage far beyond the miillionns of babies killed by abortion. We are a society that views babies as disposable.

If he's found guilty the sentencing will be interesting.

They should do to him what he did to that poor baby! If the justice system started to believe an eye for an eye maybe people would think twice about causing harm to others especially those that can't defend themselves.
We all know he won't sit the whole 76 yrs and will probably be out in 15 yrs.
