Robert W. Roberts, interim chief candidate for the Milton Police Department, met the Milton City Council tonight and laid out his plan for conducting an organizational review of the department and recruiting and hiring a new chief.

Roberts said he will focus on communication with stakeholders such as city officials, department employees and community members to find out what the needs of the department are and what the community wants to see in a new chief.

Afterward, the city council met in closed session to discuss a contract for Roberts. The Milton Police Commission is scheduled to meet Thursday morning to decide whether or not to appoint Roberts.
