Gov. orders tracking of offenders by race
MADISON — Gov. Jim Doyle has ordered state law enforcement agencies to begin tracking offenders’ race.
The order means the state Office of Justice Assistance and the Transportation and Corrections departments must track traffic citations, arrests, charges, sentencing and parole revocations by race and jurisdiction.
Doyle says he also will create a four-member commission that will meet twice a year to discuss programs and policies to reduce race disparities in criminal justice.
The moves come in response to recommendations from a task force Doyle set up last year to study race in Wisconsin’s criminal justice system.

In other words this is another pandering boondogle the Gov. wants to publicly flaunt before everyone to show that he's "doing his job". Maybe Diamond Jim should put as much thought into why we seem to have huge state budget deficits that only get balanced when he's up for re-election.

does this mean if one religion, race or gender commits more crimes than other religions, races or gender then they will back off arresting and sentencing the higher crime rate religion, race or gender? sounds like political correctness run amuck.......AGAIN!

I think they're trying to prove that they're not engaged in racial profiling, and arresting people because of their race. Also, to help those that have been incarcerated.

Executive Order #251 does a lot more than order the tracking of race, which is being done to help "reduce racial disparities" within the justice system. It also helps people in the judicial system to get a driver's license, treatment, and mentoring among other things. On the surface, it seems like a good order. Hop over to
