Immigration officials arrest 11

KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) Federal agents say they've arrested 11 gang members in Kenosha who are illegal immigrants from Mexico.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents worked with the state Department of Justice and local officers in making the arrests. The coordinated effort targeted members and associates of the Surenos 13 street gang.

One of those arrested was Francisco Cortes-Ruiz. He's a convicted drug dealer who'd been deported after serving time in California. Because he returned to the U.S. as a felon, Cortes-Ruiz now faces up to 20 years in prison. Two of the other ten were turned over to the Sheriff's Dept. on outstanding warrants. The remaining detainees face deportation.

Get on your horses load your guns and run them out of town like they did in the old west. Oh wait that would be illegal. Go figure.

I'm sorry but when we had our annual review for my daughter's social security my husband learned that someone was using his social security number in California. Obviousely my husband was NOT working here in Wisconsin and in California at the same time. My question is why do they not verify name to social security numbers before they hire someone?? My husband asked who was using it and they said they could not divulge that information. EXCUSE ME?? It's my husband's social security number.. and then we wondered why things were on our income report. They gave us a stack of paper to call and contact people but its a big run around.

garyprimer, intrestingly enough, money from illegals sent to Mexico is the second largest GNP in Mexico behind oil and in front of #3 tourism (Tourism brings 4 billion a year into Mexico). Illegals send alot of money home to Mexico.

So the deported felon came back to the US and we get to support his incarceration for the next 20 years? WTF???

It is quite apparent that no government agency has any interest in enforcing immigration law unless there is additional criminal activity. As for emigration figures from Mexico, you must be joking. I have heard that they are complaining that less money is coming in from the US and that many citizens are returning to Mexico. While this seems plausible and may be true, it constitutes a smoke screen for the immigration issue and ammunition for proponents of open borders who think that Americans are no longer capable of tying their own shoes. When the economy improves, they will be back in larger numbers.

WisconsinMom: That's slightly frustrated, eh? You do your job and you get turned down because of a lack of whatever. Do you get discouraged at your job? I would. I give you credit for keeping at it.

Happycamper: With over 6.5% unemployment,I'm not sure that some Americans without jobs might not take those dirty-nasty jobs You refered to. If those jobs can not be filled, that is what the H-1B Visa program is all about. Those are people who can obtain Visas and enter our Country as a Legal person, not sneak over the Border and make anchor babies.

Dave..I work in HR, and people present fake licenses and SS cards..I have caught several, and when you call the DMV, they don't care..when you call SS..they tell you to tell the person to call an 800 number.. (Yeah right) and if you call Homeland Security or the Immigration office, they say..We have too many cases to get involved with individuals..

Illegal Immigrants do 20% of the work Americans are unwilling to do! We spend more on an UNNECESSARY war than we do on Illegals. Oh, you'll all find some statistical link that can prove me wrong I know, but the truth is we need jobs done (dirty, nasty jobs) and we don't want to do them, our kids are in collage and these jobs are beneth them. Hire an Illegal, they'll do anything!

These people are gang members, employed only in the illegal drug trade and whatever other profitable but illegal schemes that draw their interest. Perhaps if recreational drug users would consider that the next time they crave a "high" and find some legal way to enjoy themselves instead, then maybe these gangs would find our streets less profitable and our country less hospitable. I know, what a dreamer I am.

It's so appealing for them to come here.
So they come pregnant, and they can get medical assistance to have their babies. Then the babies are citizens. Since the parents work under other peoples' Social Security Numbers, you can't prove they have any income, so the baby can get food stamps. If the parents CAN prove they are working, then the state pays for childcare for the kid, as well as still paying all the medical.
How nice!

Busdriver Put up that fence!! That would solve it,but so many are against it. Honestly the way to keep them there would be just not to make it easy for them to come in. I have nothing against them coming the legal way. become a citizen, and learn to speak english, that is our language. and don't punish the border control for doing their job!!!

First let me say I am not a "predjudice" person. I have many friends that have come from Mexico. I understand them wanting to come here to get better jobs and have a better life. However, I don't understand how our country has let this become ok. I do see so many people working here, earning US money just to send it out of our country and back to Mexico (to help the family still there). Maybe this is what's wrong with our economy??? Also, when I tossed around the idea of moving to Canada I realized that I couldn't just sneak over the border, get a job, home, driver's license, enroll my child in school, be eligible for government $ (free and reduced lunch, medical benefits...). What is Candada doing that we don't seem to be able to do to control the numbers of people that are flooding into the USA??? It upsets me when I see a family with 6 kids living a higher style of life than myself and I was born here, went to college, work my butt off and I'm not "entitled" to the same kinds of things. I'll also agree that they are working all kinds of jobs that some of our lazy, low rent US citizens won't do and it's partly the fault of these employers that exploit them by paying them less or ignoring fake ss# or whatever. Instead of bashing the illegals we should find a foolproof way to STOP more from coming in. We (our government) should have to begin taking care of the people that are already here and make us a stronger country. HOW? I don't have a clue. Maybe someone here has an answer??

Actually, garyprimer, the Mexican government just put out figures showing that emigration (legal or otherwise) has been cut in half, probably due to the economy and/or increased enforcement.

The remaining that are sent back will return within six months and will probably be wary enough to avoid getting caught again. This is expensive and pointless. Maybe we need to find an island somewhere for people that don't know what country they are supposed to be in and send them all there.

Ship them all back. I don't know why we can give some people a pass to break the law, and some have to pay.

Super Dave; I agree with most of Your comments, but please consider all of the FAKE drivers licenses and S.S. cards these people use. The only way is to Have Employer's be enrolled in the E-Verify program to see if they are legal to work here. My wife used to work in Payroll at a large construction Co. One day she received a call and the person stated he wanted to give her his S.S.#, she said I have Your S.S.#, He said "I want to give You my REAL number. Go Figure.

This needs to be done in all counties not just big areas. I see a lot of illegals sending a vast amount of their money earned here to their families out of this country and this is not helping the economy in the USA as we earn our money and spend it here, they send it to there home land and we lose in the long run. Drug dealers (the bigger ones) ship the drugs in and make the money from here and live nice in foreign countries. Time for change is what was voted for and I hope we see it after January as to this issue.

Absolutely right. The key to solving this problem is denying jobs to illegals. The last time I started a new job, I was required to show my driver's license and social security card. So those documents need to be secure - in other words, no US driver's licenses unless you can prove citizenship. If they can't get a job here, they will stop coming here.

Our country is making it's way into a recession. All these illegals are not helping. There needs to be stricter immigration laws, now more than ever, yet we are heading in the opposite direction!

We have waited long enough for our immigration laws to be enforced. Congress has failed to vote on extending the E-verify policy needed to keep illegal immigrants from taking jobs that belong to American citizens. Mean while Obama & McCain meet to discuss how to give ammensty to over 10-12 million illegals. Time to call or write Your Congressman today. Better yet visit: http://www.numbersusa.com/content/
and learn more about this out of control problem.
