Obama urges his Wisconsin supporters to vote now
MADISON, Wis. (AP) Sen. Barack Obama is urging his Wisconsin supporters to vote before Election Day.
The Democrat's presidential campaign on Monday sent an e-mail to thousands of supporters featuring a video clip of the Illinois senator.
Obama says, "Voting is easy in Wisconsin. You can go do it today." He then directs them to a Web site and a phone number where they can find out how to vote absentee in person or through the mail.
The message was recorded before Obama took the stage at a rally in La Crosse earlier this month.
The campaigns of Obama and his GOP rival John McCain have each tried to mobilize their supporters to vote absentee before the Nov. 4 election.

zoom...If the lowest two quintiles paying “federal” tax pay at a ZERO rate (after deductions and rebates via child care and other tax credits), how does Obamas tax plan give them a tax break? These tax payers make up nearly 30% of the 95% number you stated and Obama puts out in his tax plan.

This is a troubling story. If the information contained within the story are true, it is an erosion of the republic where candidate is urging citizens to vote early. The medium, absentee ballots in this case, does not matter. Why is Sen Obama urging voters in WI to vote early and not other states? It doesn't matter which candidate is promoting this, the issue appears linked to the coverage of the decision that affects the Wisconsin economy. I submit that the accelerated closure of the GM plant in Janesville, and its affect on the economy is a contributing factor. Collectively we, as a voting public, need to hold to a strict voting day. Nobody that is currently in the State of Wisconsin is deployed and not able to get to a designated voting location. Don't be urged to vote with your heart, vote with your head. Your future depends on it.

Don't believe polert's misinformation.
Obama has never said his tax credit would go to people not willing to work. The middle class tax credit is for 95% of WORKING families or individuals.
Obama’s Comprehensive Tax Policy Plan for America will:
Cut taxes for 95 percent of WORKERS and their families with a tax cut of $500 for WORKERS or $1,000 for WORKING couples.
Provide generous tax cuts for low- and middle-income seniors, homeowners, the uninsured, and families sending a child to college or looking to save and accumulate wealth.
Eliminate capital gains taxes for small businesses, cut corporate taxes for firms that invest and create jobs in the United States, and provide tax credits to reduce the cost of healthcare and to reward investments in innovation.
Dramatically simplify taxes by consolidating existing tax credits, eliminating the need for millions of senior citizens to file tax forms, and enabling as many as 40 million middle-class Americans to do their own taxes in less than five minutes without an accountant.

For some reason my mother (who is very much a democrat) was put on a Republican mailing list. She recently received an absentee ballot in the mail already filled out for McCain...Both sides are trying to lock in votes. It has nothing to do with fraud. I'm not saying that there isn't fraud, because I'm sure there is. I'd like to point out that it runs rampant on both sides of the aisle.

Another great post! The free enterprise system is designed to reward the people that are willing to step up and make something of themselves. The problems we're facing are these programs that the govt. implements that reward the unwilling and lazy people and govt. is playing God and deciding that these rewards should come out of the pockets of those who have stepped out and made something from nothing and busted their humps to create their wealth. In other words, mediocrity is encouraged and ambition and fortitude are being, discouraged! We, the people are our own worse enemy too. We stand by and watch this all happen. We don't have people of moral authority in office who not only understand what's going on but make the necessary changes to better our society. Leaders of moral authority stand for what's right regardless of the consequences. Those leaders I'm speaking of exist out there, but don't have the backing by others with the same integrity to actually have their voice heard by the masses because they don't control the media sources. It's so true, "control the media, control the people"........THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS THING! Hitler almost took over the Western World doing that!

From a report in a meet/greet line in Ohio over the weekend a plumber/owner operator ask Obama why Obama wanted to raise the plumber's taxes. Obama replied to spread the wealth. Which is take from the hard working, and give to the unwilling to work. So besides voting early Obama want you to spread your wealth that you worked hard for.

Part of my worry for the future of our Country:
Connecticut: local investigators are reviewing numerous reports of registration fraud committed by ACORN, including one case where a 7 year-old girl was registered to vote.
Florida: ACORN submitted hundreds of duplicate registrations to the Seminole County Supervisor of Elections.
Indiana: Almost half of the 5,000 registrations submitted by ACORN in Gary have been rejected for fraud and other irregularities.
Missouri: ACORN is being blamed for hundreds of bogus and duplication registration applications that are "bogging down the system."
Nevada: The Las Vegas office of ACORN was raided by state law enforcement for its alleged involvement in voter fraud. In addition to registering the Dallas Cowboys starting line-up, ACORN also used prison inmates through a work release program to conduct voter registration activities.
New Mexico: ACORN was exposed for employing numerous felons to collect voter registrations including sex offenders and persons accused of identity theft. The FBI is currently investigating 1,400 registrations.
Ohio: ACORN admitted to Cuyahoga County election officials that it cannot eliminate fraud from its operation. The Board has been investigating ACORN registrations since August.
Pennsylvania: Thousands of ACORN registrations have been turned over to federal authorities for investigation.
Wisconsin: 39 ACORN employees are under investigation for registration fraud and 2 have already been indicted.

The following issues are priorities for Ralph Nader and guess what, Obama and Mccain haven't even "brought these issues to the table". Vote INDEPENDENT for NADER who represents the views of the majority of Americans today.
-Adopt single payer national health insurance
-Cut the huge, bloated, wasteful military budget
-No to nuclear power, solar energy first
-Aggressive crackdown on corporate crime
and corporate welfare
-Open up the Presidential debates
-Adopt a carbon pollution tax
-Reverse U.S. policy in the Middle East
-Impeach Bush/Cheney
-Repeal the Taft-Hartley anti-union law
-Adopt a Wall Street securities speculation tax
-Put an end to ballot access obstructionism
-Work to end corporate personhood (Corporations enjoying constitutional rights as if they are a person)
-Defend, Restore and Strengthen
the Civil Justice System
-Adopt the National Initiative
-Ensure everyone can make a LIVING wage.
If Nader was allowed to debate and covered in the mainstream media I believe that people would start thinking about finally shifting the change from the few to the many, to the people.

I was sitting at the Pioneer restaurant in Laughlin, Nevada, yesterday. The guy in the booth next to us was ranting on about the fact that Obama was a Muslim and that he founded the "left wing radical group" ACORN. He then went on to pontificate about the fact that Obama actually was in communication with "Osama Obama" during the Iran-Iraq war. After I vomited on my plate, I went over and challenged him on his statements. His response was, "But that's what I heard."
As much as I hate to admit it, I have come to the conclusion that we have numerous morons in our nation. I have been a staunch supporter of the American educational system, but now I am embarrassed to say, "I am not so sure."

polert,
You are not locked in. If you vote early with an absentee ballot but change your mind, simply go to the poll and vote. Your absentee ballot will be rendered invalid by you having voted already (you will have been assigned a voter number, your absentee ballot cannot be counted without a new, unique voter number). The only catch is that you have to get there before they count the absentee ballots which means you may have to go the polls first thing in the morning. I'm sure if you contact your city/town clerk, they can give you an idea of when they process absentee ballots so that you can attempt to avoid the busy polls but still have the chance to change your mind.

Straight from CNN, How OBAMA supports BUSH in 20 ways..
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/13/w...
1. Abstinence: Bush expanded community-based abstinence education during his term, including a $28 million budget increase for 2009 in an effort to "Teach both abstinence and contraception to teens." Obama concurred in April when he said: "We want to make sure that, even as we are teaching responsible sexuality and we are teaching abstinence to children, that we are also making sure that they've got enough understanding about contraception."
2. Affirmative action: Bush said of the 2003 University of Michigan affirmative action case: "I strongly support diversity of all kinds, including racial diversity in higher education. But the method used by the University of Michigan to achieve this important goal is fundamentally flawed" -- because it depended solely on race. Bush has said other factors, such as socioeconomic status, should be considered, which would include poor white students.
4. Capital punishment: Like Bush, Obama supports capital punishment. He spoke out in opposition to the recent Supreme Court decision that denied the death penalty for child rapists. And in his 2006 memoir, Obama said, "I believe there are some crimes -- mass murder, the rape and murder of a child -- so heinous that the community is justified in expressing the full measure of its outrage by meting out the ultimate punishment."
5. Education: Obama supports charter schools, as does Bush, and merit pay for teachers, and he voted in favor of supporting the president's 21st Century Community Learning Centers.
6. Economics: Obama told reporters that he agreed with Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Bush's bailout package, then voted for the $700 billion plan. And despite routinely criticizing "the Bush tax cuts," Obama is now offering tax cuts of his own (although only for the 95 percent of taxpayers earning less than $250,000 a year). What a concept!
7. Energy: In signing the $12.3 billion Energy Policy Act of 2005, Bush said it "promotes dependable, affordable, and environmentally sound production and distribution of energy for America's future." Obama voted for the energy plan and called it a "first step toward decreasing America's dependence on foreign oil."
8. Faith-based initiatives/fatherhood: Bush is well known for his commitment to the faith-based community -- with initiatives for the poor and on fatherhood -- and he expanded the ability to allow faith-based providers a seat at the funding table. Obama, who has railed against Bush's efforts, has still found a way to embrace them, saying he would "expand" faith-based initiatives. He used his Father's Day speech to echo the president's Fatherhood Initiative.
make sure you read the rest you BUSH slammers... Obama's been backing Bush...

Obama didn't chair ACORN ... He never organized with ACORN. Ken Blackwell (best known for his dual role as Ohio Secretary of State and chair of George Bush’s Ohio campaign in 2004) likes to attack Obama with lies about his supposed connection to ACORN.
Fact: Barack was never an ACORN community organizer.
Fact: ACORN never hired Obama as a trainer, organizer, or any type of employee.
Fact: ACORN was not part of Project Vote, the successful voter registration drive Barack ran in 1992.
In his capacity as an attorney, Barack represented ACORN in a successful lawsuit alongside the U.S. Department of Justice against the state of Illinois to force state compliance with a federal voting access law.

Barack Obama worked for ACORN only once as an attorney.
Discredited Republican voter-suppression guru Ken Blackwell is attacking Barack Obama with naked lies about his supposed connection to ACORN.
• Fact: Barack was never an ACORN community organizer.
• Fact: ACORN never hired Obama as a trainer, organizer, or any type of employee.
• Fact: ACORN was not part of Project Vote, the successful voter registration drive Barack ran in 1992.
In his capacity as an attorney, Barack represented ACORN in a successful lawsuit ALONGSIDE THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE against the state of Illinois to force state compliance with a federal voting access law. For his work helping enforce the law, called “Motor Voter,” Barack received the IVI-IPO Legal Eagle Award in 1995.
Ken Blackwell is best known today for disenfranchising Democratic voters in his dual role as Ohio Secretary of State and chair of George Bush’s Ohio campaign in 2004. To see him shed crocodile tears for the integrity of the vote while making accusations about Barack and ACORN with absolutely no basis in fact is disturbing.
Blackwell’s attacks against ACORN and community organizers continue a vile Republican pattern of mockery and viciousness against this noble profession. Community organizers are the very individuals Republicans should be celebrating for helping people to help themselves rather than depending on the government.

Early voting is available in 31 states this cycle. Wisconsin's "no excuse" absentee ballot rules are effectively the same as early voting. In Wisconsin you can register in person and request and file a ballot all in person, or request a ballot by mail as long as it is received by election day.
.
Your ballot is counted in your local precinct, and the absentee ballot is not counted if you vote in person. It is not possible to vote twice.
.
Both Presidential campaigns are urging their supporters to take advantage of early voting. It is especially important if you have any doubt about your registration, so that you are not forced to file a provisional ballot on election day.
http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx...
.
Check your registration at Wisconsin's Voter Public Access site:

Both campaigns have tried to get their supporters to cast their votes early. Not really too shocking. A vote cast is final. You can't have a do-over, regardless of what the campaign does in it's final weeks.
.
However, I doubt either campaign wants anyone to vote twice or more. If discovered, none of the ballots cast would be counted.
