Charges requested in Milton bomb incident
From the WCLO newsroom:
The case against a 14-year-old female student, suspected in a Milton bomb scare incident, is advanced by Milton police.
Last Thursday, Milton High School officials notified police that the word "bomb" was found written on an inside wall of the school. Police evacuated the building, searched it, and then searched all students entering the building Friday.
Chief Jerry Schuetz says they were able to identify the suspect by using video surveillance equipment in the school and through interviews with students. On Monday Schuetz forwarded their recommendation of a charge of "felony bomb scare" to the juvenile intake office. From there it will be forwarded to the District Attorney's office.
Schuetz says the suspect has been suspended from school pending further actions, and was taken to a secure juvenile facility after her arrest on Friday.

Sunnyday, whatever her problem is, it should NOT have threatened our school district. There are children interested in an education and parents who want their children to be safe in school. My taxes pay for that sense of security.
What ever moronic thoughts went through her mind to provoke this stupid decision of hers, needs to be addressed. But seriously... I don't care if she's expelled, actually I hope she is.
Its hard enough to get our kids through school with the "normal" peer pressure crap.. then some asinine decision by another student, wanting out of class to go to the mall, or whatever...
Unacceptable! She must be held accountable. I didn't mince words with my two girls when they were in Milton High School, her parents need to get a handle on this kid.
Community service for 500 hours would probably make her think twice next time!!! I'd lay money on it.

If everybody was perfect, wouldn't life suck? It "IS" our job to try and help find a solution,to ALL the messed up people in this world, not that they will listen! Embarrisment sometimes will put another light on their problems, sometimes it works.

Nice game, does that make you feel better in life to make negitive comments about other people's problems and what happens in their lives? Nice, way to much time on your hands.

Ok, none of you guys even know this girl or her family or what happened to her in her life. So until you know these things how can you comment on this?? I think you need to find out the FULL details before you decide to post a comment on here. Not just this topic, but there are so many that I read and think the Janesville public is actually really cruel.

You all will get blue in the face, trying to figure these kids out! We let the government take over disaplining our children, now they run & act like a bunch of wild animals, with "NO" consequences. She should get something out of this, you can tell "IF" she learned her lesson,by her actions, but i don't think this should be allowed to ruin her life!! I suppose this doesn't fall under the freedom of speech act??? LOL!!!!!

Think of Columbine. I don't blame the school district for doing what they did. Good job. We certainly all would feel prrrrreeeety bad if this had ended up like a columbine only with a bomb. It's always better to err on the side of safety rather than have another Columbine style massacre. Yes, She probally didn't have one and just wanted attention, But just look at those female bombers in the middle east. They wanted attention and fame in death like those 2 at Columbine. Yes, This is America but post 911 America. We take any threat more seriously now. Just my views.

This is a very unhappy, very angry young lady who is not mature enough yet to be able to express her anger in an appropriate fashion. We have all made stupid mistakes when we were her age, some mistakes were bigger than others. I hope she is able to get the counseling she needs, to learn how to handle her anger in the future. I would hate to see her have a felony charge haunt her the rest of her life. Milton schools handled this very well, I have not heard that many students were traumatized.

I must agree with redder... Sounds like this child has just a tad bit too much time on her hands. Lets fill it up for a year! She also needs an education in America's past 20 year history regarding bombs and destruction. It might have sounded like a "funny" little joke when she did it, but so many American's lives have been forever altered by terrorists, school shootings, etc. she needs to learn a serious lesson!
Pull an idiotic stunt like that again, after working her little behind off for 365 days, bet she won't!!!
Jail time? Nah...

I understand what you guys are saying but a felony at 14. I think with the system we have now(justus) we could stay that sentence till she was 18, so we don't destroy a young like. Granted she should pay, and pay big time I understand, maybe clean up the poilce and fire stations too, OOOOHHHHH she should pay, but not give up any chance to be a better person cause she is 14 and have I said stupid

Icertainly would not charge her with a felony but I would torture her with extra work for the rest of the year. Lets see she can paint, she can work weekends areound the school, I would end her life(outside of school) for the rest of this year and maybe the summer then lets see how funny that was. Good old slave labor works well for me, if it was my kid I would have them in the princoples office now anyway, finding what slave dtuies this girl can do for the next 6 months. Look she is 14 and stupid niether is a crime, just that 14 and stupid

Gaz she should have at least a Felony on her record. She has caused emotional trauma to other students, and their parents. She wasted tax payers time, and detracted from other ability to learn.
Base on emotional stress she placed on others she needs to be punished with a felony.

polert, you do realise that a felony on this girls record at 14, can ruin the entire rest of her life don't you? That is a huge price to pay for being stupid. I am pretty sure the girl did not have nor was going to make a bomb. I am not defending what she did, but she din't come into the school toting a gun. She did an incrediably stupid thing, and she WILL pay for it, in more ways than one, I am just saying to slap that on her record for the rest of her life is a big deal

One of the problems with society today is that everyone thinks in absolutes, with no room for moderation....All the way to the right or all the way to the left with no tolerance for any one in the middle.
.
Throw the book at every lawbreaker, regardless of the circumstances with no tolerance for anything less.
Never mind that justice and compliance may be achieved without a felony conviction.
.
Everyone espouses free thinking and unbiased weighing of the facts .....as long as they agree with your interpretation.

I have never in my life written on any bathroom wall, or any wall for that matter. I just don't get it.
Make an example out of her, and if she is convicted, make her speak in front of her peers at an all school assembly, and explain what her punishment was. If attention is what she wanted, then give it to her.

The only thing written on the walls when I was at Milton High was for a good time call, Party is at, and joke of the day. This girl needs to have a felony on her record for this, and spend a little time in a girls home. She will learn what the word she wrote means, as all the bad girls there let her know she is the ----

Throw away?
Thats not the point.
These kids have no respect/fear of the consequences of their actions.
A slap on the wrist, a stern talking to and they're off Scott-free.
The next day they're bragging to their friends about how "bad" they are.
EVERONE needs to be held accountable.

She is not a throw away kid, I think sannio is probably right, most kids don't do things like this unless they are extremly angry, or hurt, or ignored. A felony at such a young age, is a terrible thing. She needs help, and I hope that she gets it. She needs to pay a price for what she did, but I think she will, for a long time. By the way, hats off to Milton Schools, they handeled this whole thing very well!!!
