Milwaukee paper endorses Obama
MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is endorsing Democrat Barack Obama for president, calling him the candidate with the vision and potential to lead a nation with a teetering economy, a "health care morass" and involvement in two foreign wars.
"The Bush administration has bumbled from crisis to crisis for nearly eight years, competence gone AWOL. The nation needs resuscitating change like a new baby needs that first breath of air," the newspaper said in an editorial on its Web page for Sunday’s edition.
"Two would-be successors pledge it. But Barack Obama is more believable. We recommend him to be the 44th president of the United States," the paper said.
The newspaper criticizes Republican John McCain for his selection of Sarah Palin as running mate and says that Obama’s choice, Joe Biden, has the "foreign policy credentials to serve in the event of tragedy, not just a running mate to score political points."
The Chippewa Herald also is endorsing Obama after backing Bush in 2000 and 2004.

I thought the endorsement from the Anchorage Daily News was an interesting one. That is-Anchorage Alaska. It kind of says something. It has good things to say about Gov. Palin as well, is not demeaning, but gives Obama a good endorsement. Too bad we can't be like that (no matter who we support).

Hussein \hu(s)-sein\ is pronounced hoo-SAYN. It is of Arabic origin, and its meaning is "good; small handsome one". The name of a prominent person in Shiite Islam and a royal name in Jordan.

It is only fitting that the liberal media support a liberal like Obama. They both came from liberal colleges that spew anti-government, establishment, rhetoric. They replace it with entitlement, utopian ideology that anything can be accomplished with help from everybody else.
Nothing patriotic about that.

Localboysince1968: Thought you might enjoy reading about the endorsement trail. The following information is from Madison's online Capital Times:
NATIONALLY, OBAMA'S THE PICK OF THE LIBERAL ... AND THE CONSERVATIVE MEDIA
The presidential campaigns take newspaper endorsements very seriously. They seek them, promote them and even review them in newspaper ads. Why? Because endorsements lend credibility to candidates -- especially relative newcomers such as Obama.
So who is winning the race for newspaper endorsements? Obama, by a mile.
The magazine of newspapering, Editor & Publisher, keeps track of endorsements of newspapers across the country.
What's the word: Obama endorsements beat McCain endorsements by a 3-1 margin.
That's newsworthy because, in 2004, Democrat John Kerry and Republican George Bush split the endorsements almost equally.
Why the shift? More than 30 major daily newspapers that backed Republican Bush in 2004 have endorsed Democrat Obama this year. Among their number: the Houston Chronicle, the Austin American Statesman and the Chicago Tribune.

Irishlady4ev - Your middle name must be lemming. It's that same stupid fear mongering with the name and associations that make the republican party look like petty, bitter, same old crap politicians.

I know that socialism is a dirty word all by itself for some people, but the headlines sort of indicate that capitalism is not exactly doing that great for people lately. Maybe you guys need a new dirty word.

IrishLady-
Middle name? That type of fear mongering is what has gotten us in the position, as a country, we are now (locally and globally). McCain has denounced this type of talk. It does none of us any good to stereotype anyone. Assuming someone's stance just because of a name is dangerous, at best, to our humanity. Our Irish hertiage and history should have at least taught us that.

This is part of Obama's plan:
A plan by Teresa Ghilarducci, professor of economic-policy analysis at the New School for Social Research in New York, contains elements that are being considered. She testified last week before Miller’s Education and Labor Committee on her proposal. …
Under Ghilarducci’s plan, all workers would receive a $600 annual inflation-adjusted subsidy from the U.S. government but would be required to invest 5 percent of their pay into a guaranteed retirement account administered by the Social Security Administration. The money in turn would be invested in special government bonds that would pay 3 percent a year, adjusted for inflation.
The current system of providing tax breaks on 401(k) contributions and earnings would be eliminated.
ALSO -- when you die, the government takes 1/2 of what you have left.
