A spokesman for the Wisconsin National Guard says officials there are on standby in case they are needed to help with Hurricane Gustav.

Lt. Col. Tim Donovan says if the Wisconsin National Guard is needed and requested, they are willing and able to assist the Gulf Coast.

Gustav has been downgraded to a Category 2 storm. Hurricane Katrina was a Category 3 storm when it hit the Gulf Coast three years ago, causing death, damage and destruction over 90,000 square miles and costing billions of dollars in damages.

Donovan says more than 500 soldiers and airmen helped after Katrina in 2005.

A fleet of D-8 is what is needed down there to fix that area for good and then you will have to never worry about it again.
