I'm a bit surprised here at the outright rejection of ideas that differ from yours. We have a lot of conservative thinktanks. Will it really hurt to have just a few places where alternative ideas from the left can be presented? In listening to the RNC now, as I consider who I will vote for, I'm a bit upset at its populist, knee-jerk attacks on the Ivy League, etc.

WSP - Progressive does not = Democrat. You will note, Fighting Bob did not join the Democratic party when he left the Republicans. He formed a new party.

Hey Janesvillean, I find your comment and this fest curious at best given the fact on this same website an article is written about your Democratic Gov. taking money from that same so called "corporte special interests" to help change his mind on nuclear power plants. Hmmm, is the party hypocritical or just the Governor?

Fighting Bob is Robert M. La Follette, Sr., the most celebrated and successful politician from Wisconsin.
.
Fighting Bob, of course, began his career as a Republican. As he began to realize that the anti-slavery party he had joined had become a tool of corporate special interests, he fought for years to reform the party against a determined cadre called the "Stalwarts". Eventually he broke from the party and formed the Progressives. He became Governor and then U.S. Senator before running for President. He is closely associated with the Wisconsin Idea, where the university lends its expertise to state policy.

klobo69: Fighting Bob Fest is an annual Chautauqua featuring progressive speakers, networking opportunities, and entertainment. Fighting Bob Fest carries on the tradition of Robert “Fighting Bob” La Follette by providing a forum for progressive ideas on issues facing Wisconsin and the nation. http://www.fightingbobfest.org/ ("Freak" relfects more upon those who use the term attempting to be disparaging than upon those who attend this great, fun event.)

Great lineup. Wish I could be there. I can't wait to read all the negatives that will pour in on this one. This should get the righties undies in a bunch.
