MILWAUKEE (AP) _ A warrant has been issued for an assistant principal in Milwaukee accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy.

Fifty-four-year-old Gilberto Brown was charged Tuesday with sexual assault of a child, repeated acts, with fewer than three violations.

Milwaukee Public Schools spokeswoman Roseann St. Aubin says Brown has been placed on leave from Lincoln Avenue School. She says the now 18-year-old victim was not a student at the school and no current or former students are involved in the case.

The warrant says the teen told investigators he was 14 when he began spending nights at Brown's apartment, where the assaults occurred.

A working phone number for Brown could not be found, and he did not have an attorney listed in online court records.

Jakiao - The police do not find people "innocent." A judge or jury finds someone either "guilty or not guilty"

True....don't assume anything when it is a loaded subject. It could cause unneccesary harm. However, the fact that this young person is coming forward a few years later...is classic pattern to a true victim's behavior and thought pattern. Think about it. If tangible evidence is located such as child pornography, then it will be more probable that this did happen. Maybe we'll find out. Either way this is bad. Either a horrible false accusation or another young victim!

Welcome to Janesville. This is how the people always react when allegations of sexual assault of a child pops up. For instance, read up on Ron Torkilson, the janitor from Clinton, who was accused child sexual assault. He was convicted by the people of this city almost immediately despite being found innocent by the police.

IT says repeated acts, and nights that he stayed, that is plural! If the kid knew it was Wrong,NOW,but not THEN? Why did he keep repeating these acts? Sounds a little fishy to me. Sounds like he might be trying to get even, for some reason.

Well, the salient part of this story is not that there was an assault of a minor by an authority figure (whether there was once a formal relationship is not yet reported), but that this is a warrant for someone who has apparently made himself scarce. I'm not saying that running makes you guilty, but it doesn't help your public case much.
.
Note that child victims of sexual assault have until they reach age 35 to seek civil damages.

.
And criminal charges for sexual assault of a child (first degree) have no statute of limitation in Wisconsin.

The majority of reported cases are prosecuted. Check the WI stats. The revenge motivated cases are a small minority.jmo Many of the Catholic Priest victims were abused in the sixties and seventies and were afraid to report.

My point is every case should be investigated, just make a stipulation that if it is found to be a false accusation, there will be a prosecution as well.

Who's to say that the "victim" isn't making this up because he's mad at the Assistant Principal for some reason?--- Rusty ~ Ever hear those stories of why victims find it sooo hard to come forward with their stories? Maybe it's because of comments like that..

get_the_facts_people - I am aware of that. Refer to (Sarcasm) after the first 2 sentences. My point is that it seems the mass majority always comment on they should go through testing / background checks, yada yada etc. for every story that involves tragedy. If someone wants to or chooses to do wrong they will. No test will identify or stop a tragedy like this.

Looks like y'all have found this man guilty already, without ever hearing or seeing one shred of evidence. An allegation carries a lot of weight with you folks, doesn't it?

ljs64 - educators do have their backgrounds investigated before they can work in any school district. When a district wants to hire someone, that individual has to go down to the sheriffs department or police station and have his/her fingerprints taken. These are then sent to the state and the FBI to check on backgrounds.

I'm glad this boy/man came out now before the statue of limitations was up. He is very brave for coming out about this. I hope he gets all the help he needs and the man who did this to him gets a very very long sentence for his actions.

Any attention is better then none no matter who or what it is to some kids. The adult is the one responsible as to this situation. If this is true I hope the kid gets the right help so the chain is broken as to the continuence of this type of sickness and ABUSE.

Maybe we should have a written test for Assistant Principals? (Sarcasm) Maybe that would weed out things like this happening. (Sarcasm) Let's wait to see how many posts suggest testing / background checks etc.

perhaps a better question is why was a 50 year old man inviting a 14 year old to spend the night at his apartment...I know it's semantics, but don't place blame on the victim.
