JANESVILLE

A $30,000 cash bond was set Friday afternoon for Joseph R. Chrislaw Sr. on two charges of soliciting murder.

In addition, Chrislaw, 46, of 733 Kellogg Ave., No. 3, Janesville, is barred from contact with the intended victims of the alleged plot—Janesville City Councilman Yuri Rashkin and his girlfriend, Inna M. Cheremisina—or the man who police say put them in contact with Chrislaw.

Chrislaw also must surrender his passport, according to conditions set by Court Commissioner Stephen Meyer.

Cheremisina is Chrislaw’s estranged wife. She now lives with Rashkin.

Rashkin and his wife, Amy, have filed for divorce.

Chrislaw, a pizza distribution manager, apparently does not qualify for a public defender, but that situation could change, said Larry Peterson, an assistant public defender assigned only to Chrislaw’s initial court appearance.

Meyer scheduled a preliminary hearing on the charges—two counts of solicitation of first-degree intentional homicide—for 2:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22.

After an undercover police officer posing as a Hells Angels hit man met Chrislaw, police arrested him on preliminary charges of soliciting murder and conspiracy to commit murder. The Rock County District Attorney’s Office, however, did not file any conspiracy charges but did charge two counts of solicitation, one for each person police said Chrislaw wanted killed.

Why would they release the informant's name? That is what an informant is, anonymous to civilians. That would blow his cover and he would no longer be an informant!

why not publish the name of the informant. I would guess that 70% of the people over 35 have heard of him before. And by the way what did he get paid or what are they letting him get away with this time. He has been unheard of for a few years but know he is talking and back. This pizza man is wrong no doubt. But what about the informant????

Just because he did or DID NOT sleep with whom ever , does not mean he should be killed. Give me a break. His council activities have nothing to do with any of this.

We put this guy on the city council?? Sleeping with another man's wife while he has one of his own? And you people wonder why this community is in a depressed state. Nice leadership.

Good grief, it's Papa John's. He probably works in Rockford, they seem to have a warehouse there.

A pizza distribution manager?....obvious ties to the mafia, should have been easy to set up the "whacking".....too much "Sopranos" for this guy, I'm guessing.
