JANESVILLE -- A driver will likely face a felony charge of causing injury by drunken driving after an accident in the 1100 block of East Racine Street this morning.

Two adults and four children, all from one vehicle, were taken to Mercy Hospital after the accident, which occurred around 6:30 a.m.

Full details were not yet available. The vehicle carrying the six people struck an unoccupied parked car, said Janesville police Lt. Tom Wolfram. None of the injuries appeared, initially, to be serious.

Well now the rest of the story is on the website. They should both be charged for more than just drunk driving! Child endangerment!

I bet that Eric Gilson on there will get a good sentance though all because he hit a mailbox and a lightpole. And he's only 21!!!

Sorry, I agree with you this driver will get nothing but a slap on the wrist just like the Peabody girl in the baby "accident". And yes you can be "legally" drunk after 3 beers but like curlysue said who is having 3 beers before 6:30 in the morning and obviously he had more or was a pretty bad light weight to crash into a parked car. We dont know for SURE if this was the case yet but I'm basing my opinions off the article which is the point of the blog!

sorry

We all know that there isn't going to be a long justice sentence. Just think back to last week and the woman who got only 18 months in which a baby died because she had to take her boyfriend on a drug run. The system is a joke. Everyday you look at the public record and you see people with three, four or even more arrest for drunk driving. I just hope someone comes up with a way to deter this behavior.

to JohnDoe...don't you think the responding officers noted a smell of intoxicants, or suspected drugs in the person's system? Authorities don't just throw out arrests like candy at a parade. There is an investigation which takes place immediately at the scene, including interviews etc. etc....More than likely this person was drunk or on their way to becoming so....

I understand your point, as I have played devil's advocate in these posts too. But I'm sick of the constant inabilities of our citizens to stop drinking and driving, to say the least. Hope the person sees lots of justice coming their way!

the car was parked in a driveway. The driver tried to leave and pulled in to a driveway on Racine St. The children were crying . I was outside and heard it. It was sad to hear the little ones .

Actually it is not a fact that they were drunk at 6:30 AM.
What is a fact is that "A driver will likely face a felony charge of causing injury by drunken driving."
.
This story is lacking in details, so it is unknown if a breath test was given or blood drawn.
It is not unheard of for things to turn out differently than what was first suspected.
Being charged with something does not mean being convicted of it.
Some medical conditions have been known to mimic intoxication.
.
Not to say that will be the case here, BUT being drunk is NOT yet an established FACT based on this article.
.
So, yes, don't be so quick to judge.

jonwayne says "So Quick to Judge , 3 beers is drunk driving OMG You have no idea what happened"

3 beers at 6:30 a.m.? Yeah right!! the driver either was out drinking ALL night or has a MAJOR problem needing to drink booze in place of coffee/juice in the morning!!!!!
And why shouldn't we judge? It was a FACT they were drunk at 6:30 a.m. and ran into a parked car. So OMG we DO KNOW what happened!!!

I believe the 1100 block of E Racine is four lanes down to 2 and it is a no parking area. Looks like there may be more liability to go around other that the drunk driver.

Also, it could be the driver was still intoxicated from Saturday night. Regardless, this behavior is unacceptable. I hope the injured recover quickly.

State of Wisconsin defines a child as under age of 18 unless federal or state law is violated, then it is 17. One of the children could have been a licensed driver.

How sad for the kids who can't say 'I'm not getting in the car with you, your drunk'
+
"driver will likely face a felony charge" Which equals a slap on the wrist and a 'no no no' from the judge!

Very sad that children have to be victims of stupidity like this. I hope they're all alright.
