Company could bring 80 jobs
A Janesville developer said Wednesday he is close to landing a new tenant who plans to bring up to 80 jobs to the community.
The new tenant has a strong interest in leasing 187,500 square feet of space in a building owned by Helgesen Holdings, Jeff Helgesen said.
In order to accommodate the new tenant, Helgesen said he needs to find a new home for LiquiPur Holdings, which announced in August that it will move its bottling operation from a Chicago suburb to 62,500 square feet of space in Helgesen’s 250,000-square-foot building on Venture Drive.
That new home will be a 110,000-square-foot facility Helgesen owns on South Wuthering Hills Drive, Helgesen said.
Until definitive agreements are signed, Helgesen said he can't disclose the tenant's identity.
In total, the two tenants will fill nearly 300,000 square feet of space and add up to 170 jobs to the local economy, which has suffered through a summer of plant closing and layoffs.

I have never posted before, but I read the comments pretty frequently. I am always amazed at how negative, spiteful, ignorant, and outright ridiculous some of the comments are. Most of the time I just shake my head and ignore them. But this time I can't stomach it. What is wrong with you Janesville people??? Here's something POSITIVE happening at a time when a large portion of the population is facing unemployment, and you manage to gripe about that, too?? Seriously, people. Stop blaming everyone else for your worries and grow up. If I was an employer considering moving my business to Janesville, and I read these whiny comments, I would absolutely consider bringing in workers from other areas or even skipping over Janesville altogether. Shame on you!

Woodsman:
You have a solid point. Most of the people that are saying "good ridence" to GM are uneducated and in 10 years when the city turns to crap, they may make the corelation between the good times and GM being up and running. Either way, it is obvious they have never taken a microeconomics class. Thankfully, I was smart enough to get the heck out of Dodge as soon as I graduated college to take full advantage of the plentiful opportunities that are present elsewhere. I hope others are able to do so as well if they cannot find work in the south-central Wisconsin area.

Well, its a start, but I believe there are way more than 80 people unemployed in Rock County. How many of those jobs will be taken by people in Illinois who would transfer? How many of those jobs will go to someone outside of Rock County? Of course, I don't know of any employers in Rock County that require employees to be Rock County citizens....you can even work for Rock County and live in Illinois.

This is quite good news. Having so many jobs coming into town that we have trouble finding space for them (in a sense) is a problem many communities would like to have.
