JANESVILLE

A preliminary hearing for Joseph R. Chrislaw Sr. on two charges of solicting murder was postponed indefinitely Monday afternoon.

Chrislaw, 46, of 733 Kellogg Ave., No. 3, Janesville, is charged with two counts of soliciting first-degree intentional homicide.

Chrislaw did not have an attorney for the scheduled preliminary hearing and told Court Commissioner Stephen Meyer he wanted a laywer for the hearing.

The State Public Defender’s Office is still trying to determine if Chrislaw qualifies for its services, assistant public defender Larry Peterson told Meyers.

Chrislaw, who worked for a local pizzeria, apparently owns property but might qualify for a public defender if his liabilities outweigh his assets, Peterson said.

Meyer scheduled a status conference for 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, before Judge James Daley to try to resolved the assets and attorney questions.

Chrislaw wanted to hire a hitman to kill his estranged wife, Inna M. Cheremisina, 34, and her boyfriend, Janesville City Councilman Yuri Rashkin, 33, the criminal complaint against Chrislaw charges.

Cheremisina moved in the Rashkin before Chrislaw tried to hire a contract killer, according to the complaint. Cheremisina filed for divorce Sept. 12, two days after Chrislaw was arrested.

Rashkin’s wife, Amy, moved out of the Rashkin home after Cheremisina moved in, according to the complaint.

Not a very good choice for a comparison. The Break Up was a comedy about how horribly uncomfortable that situation was. Dating when you still live together is one thing, but nobody is comfortable with someone else moving in when you first "seperate".

It's not that unusual for people to "separate" while still remaining in the same house or apartment due to owning/leasing it together. They may even date while doing this. There was even a 2006 movie about it (The Break Up, with Vince Vaugh & Jennifer Aniston).

Could be looking at another forum that will be shut down within 24 hours. Also, I agree with ljs64's comment.

I don't think she was living there. There are several grammar errors in this article. Sounds like whoever wrote this article did it in a hurry and hasn't read it since.

If the wife was living there at the time the girl friend moved in, that's not good. If thats the case, Then it sounds like a love triangle and a fatal attraction movie. Yikes! That's pretty scarey to me. Yuri should really get a reality check soon. Makes me wonder if that affects his judgement on the city council.
