CARLITOSWAY...if what you are saying is true, and I can't say that I can take your words either way, because I don't know for myself, but IF what you are saying is true, and the court systems are failing us, then I am seriously sadden by that. I do see sometimes people getting out for things that really do make my mouth drop, but I have to at the same time think that I am not trained in that profession, and until I am, I really don't know the process of the courts. I know what my heart tells me, but emotion has to be left out of a judges chambers or we would all be in for a real problem. I do want to tell you I am not doubting what you are saying, I just can't make that judgment without knowing for sure myself, so please don't take offense to that.

not so much as to beefing it up as to the courts doing their job and not allowing so many plea bargains for serious crimes. The police can do their job but when they do and the DAs office lets the criminals go with a slap on the hand it stinks. It gets real old to see the crimes and then read the light sentences they give to them. JPD and BPD use a lot of man hours and paper work just to see the jerks back on the streets in a day or 2. Also signature bonds instead of cash bonds for repeat offenders or ones that don't show up in court warrant issued and another signature bond and then another warrant for nonappearance and who has to serve them? The police departments like they don't have enough other work to do.

There is an update on nbc15 website. Family has been notified. They are saying it looks like a drug overdose, but until autopsy is complete, not sure.

Well, I hope this is not going to be another unsolved mystery for Beloit. This is getting out of control. I also have had a bad experience with the BPD and there response time. I was hiding,in fear for my life, my crazy ex was looking for me, he was going to hurt me...BPD never showed up in the 45 min i was there under a tree. Thankfully I made it to another location which happened to be township when I called 911 back, the police arrived in 3min. How do u explain things like this......

So, we're on our way home when my car gets rear-ended as we're pulling away from a stop sign. The driver and passenger from the other car jump out and start yelling at us as if its our fault we stopped at the sign. Assuming there would soon be a fight, we call the police. Eventually, the driver walks home. Twenty minutes later, the other driver drives off. It took over an hour for the police to arrive.
Last year, the cemetaries in the area got hard-hit by vandalism. The police stated several times in the BDN that they needed citizen involvement in reporting these incidents, yet when we called, there were still delays of an hour or more before anyone showed up. I assume the vandals got tired, because I doubt they were scared when they left.
That's my problem with the BPD. Whether this incident fits that, I don't know. Sure isn't a lot of information.

I agree with most of that last post...as the economy gets worse...many times the crime rate does increase. Thanks for the clarification.

I just meant that things should be scrambled around a little bit. Like I said, criminals catch on very quickly what rounds are made and when etc. If I made this remark in the wrong blog I am sorry, I just took the heading as a death investigation along with the recent shootings and beatings taking place in Rock County in consideration and that was my first reaction. I am not saying what I said is the right way to go about it, but with the economy it is no secret that the crime rates are continuing to climb rapidly. And I guess what I meant was if we don't try and stay one MORE step ahead of them (which I do believe the police try to do) we could really be in for a "take over" so to speak, because there are more struggling, desperate people in the community that will resort to measures unspeakable if they weren't in hardship. I guess I am just fearful with all of the crime lately. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the JPD or the BPD or any other PD for that matter, I am very grateful they all chose to pursue this career to protect my family and I. Once again, words are so easily misread. I would never want to offend someone intentionally, and apparently I did that, and I apologize for that. As I said before, I am praying that this death was the result of natural causes.

You still haven't said what you mean by beefing up the police force? What more do you want them to do? What things need to be re-evaluated? Your comment did seem like it was taking a shot at the police department....not being negative here.

No judgements here. :) I am just stating that crime is on the rise, and just to make it abundantly CLEAR, I support my local law, fire and rescue departments to the fullest! Sometimes people on here really come back a swinging don't you? Why so much offense taken? I just don't get it. At least I know I am not the negative one.

I think what "RummageSalesRock" means is that as the economy and unemployment gets worse the crime rate goes up. This is true everywhere, not just in Janesville/Beloit. I too think crime will get worse. True a death investigation simply means someone died, not that it is crime related. I am sorry for the family of the deceased.

I agree. "Beefing" up the police force is a knee jerk reaction. We have enough of those in this society.

I think the Beloit PD do a fantastic job (I'm sure the JPD do as well, but I'm not as familiar). I hardly think a dead body in an apartment on Colony Court should cause anyone to rethink anything.

What a foolish comment to make. How do they "beef up" the police force to stop this type of thing? Have a police officer at every corner of the city...or how about one on each block...or one in each residence? We don't even know what happened here yet. Lets not rush to judgement.

I seriously believe Beloit along with Janesville needs to beef up their police force. I hate to be a pessimist but I do believe things are only going to get worse, and the seasoned criminals know the patterns of the present PD too well. Things really need to be re-evaluated in my opinion. I hope this was of natural causes though.
