Revenue, attendance drop at dog track
KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) — Revenue and attendance continues to decline at the state's only remaining dog track.
A new report shows Dairyland Greyhound Park in Kenosha lost $3.4 million in 2008, on top of a $2.8 loss in 2007.
Dairyland's executive vice president Roy Berger says there's nothing short of added gaming that would help the track out of its fiscal hole.
Attendance at the pari-mutuel race track last year was 233,217, down from 273,332 in 2007. The amount wagered in 2008 was $46 million, down from $54 million in 2007.
Wisconsin once had five dog tracks and only Dairyland remains open.

It seems so long ago that people were fighting to get the dog tracks legal in the State of Wisconsin. I bet they are glad they spent all their energy now.

misère game: a game that is played according to its conventional rules, except that it is "played to lose"; that is, the winner is the one who loses according to the normal game rules

Congratulations Dairyland! You have now lost money longer than all the other dog tracks. You win! Now go away.
