I know what hannah is talking about and I was actually thinking the same thing earlier today. In many cases, everybody around gets shot. Kyle Hicke could have easily shot and killed two people, not just one.

My thought are with the Ostenson family. Sounds like you lost a wonderul mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

My thoughts are also with the Hicke family. To know that a family member is capibale of such a crime is heartbreaking as well.

I talked with Damon's father and the visitation will be next thursday @ 9 am with the funeral proceeding @ 11:30 @ Bethel Baptist Church off Mt. Zion.This is such a tragedy for Damon and Eric's family and Damon's father.My thoughts and prayers go out to all you.God bless.I knew both the victim and the suspect and Damon's father.

I was in Erica's shoes in the '90s. I was 25, my son was 5 and his dad was parking on the street in front of our house all weekend long. There was nothing the police could do because it was "public property." I was scared to no end. He threatened me uncountable times. He promised to kill me. I had an attorney. Yet there was nothing anyone could do. Yet he could do all of this and more "until he posed a physical threat." As if beating on me for years, then later punching and assaulting my car and house/ripping my parents' door off/spitting on my friends and I/horrible phone messages, and so much more etc., wasn't proof of threat?!?
My heart bleeds for Erica, though now she is in heaven. But Damon has to live with this and try to make sense of this senseless situation.
That is the real puker of this whole situation.
Ultimately, our legal system and a very devoted lawyer couldn't do anything to help me. But Domestic Abuse Help did so very much, 752-2583. PLEASE use them if you need them.
May the higher powers bless Erica's and Damon's souls.

I have to say that kyle is not his dad...i am ericas step-sister and i am grateful for all the wonderful comments people are leaving. damon is going to live with his grandma suzy erica's mom so he is well taken care of

I seen the website and now after seeing the pictures and having a face with the story it is even more heart wrenching. This poor baby lost his mother for no other reason that this man being pure evil. From the sounds of it this little boy does have a lot of family who will love him endlessly and even though it does not replace his mother it will at least help him through this. God bless this family and watch them through their time of heart ache.

It is such a shame. God be with that poor girl's child and her family. As for the man who shot her....too bad there isn't a death penalty in Wisconsin because this person truly deserves it. The poor child will be truamatised for life, because of this man's actions.

I must say that as this day will live in our hearts it will forever be in the child's. i just cant believe that Kile did this. i know that he will get what is coming by way of a juge. my concern is for the child. may we all pray for him as well as Erica's Mother, Whom i do not know but am sure that her heart is broken and torn today. May God shine his love into the worlds of those involved and lay peace on the child's Feet. Erika loved her son with everything. I went to school with Erica..I just can't believe this happened..my thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends, especially her child who had to witness this.

How sad for the girl, Her son and immediate family. As for the guy, I hope he gets all the punishment that justice can met out! This is such a tragic event.
