LAKE GENEVA -- Two Lake Geneva residents were arrested Thursday evening for possession of heroin.

Amber L. Drummond, 24, and Jeremy L. Nunn, 32, were taken to the Walworth County Law Enforcement Center jail after Lake Geneva police executed a search warrant of their residence on the 200 block of Warren Street.

Officers recovered 70 bindles containing approximately 7 grams of heroin and about $940 cash, according to Detective Ed Gritzner of the Lake Geneva Police Department.

A 36-year-old man, who Drummond confirmed to be a previous buyer, also was arrested after approaching the house when the warrant was being executed around 7:19 p.m. He was later released while officers investigate the case.

Drummond and Nunn are scheduled for an initial court appearance at 1 p.m. today at Walworth County’s Judicial Center.

Check WalworthCountyToday.com starting Monday for more updates and read tomorrow’s Gazette for complete coverage.

Yup 70 bindles = 7 grams = NOT AS MUCH AS IT SOUNDS! I can only hope that the Walworth Co. DA has more balls than our Rock Co. DA does, otherwise these two will probably get probation!

Let them do a lock down in the schools here in Lake Geneva and then have the dogs go through the school lockers. There would be so many busts it wouldn't be funny!

Bindles are the packages the heroin comes in.

I have no sympathy for these defendants. But, please realize, long-term this gets NOTHING off the streets. It's called supply and demand folks, Econ 101. It would be like trying to kill all the mosquitos in the jungle, using a hand-held bug zapper. The solution? Education. Talk to your kids - I mean, REALLY talk to them. If they believe you are sincere, and that you love them and care about their welfare, no amount of peer pressure or idle curiousity will overcome that. Here's a test - ask your kids what the effects of heroin are on the body, and on the lifes of users. You have at your disposal several recent articles within the online Gazette. Research those with your kids. They won't knowingly subject themselves to that poison if they are knowledgable.
That being said, kudos to the Lake Geneva Police Department!

blah1234: Did you alert school leaders to this? There is always an anonymous way to alert someone and then start to remove it from the school environment.

Maybe the Gazette should have posted that the WalworthCountyToday.com site is not available until Monday, 5/27/09. For those of us looking for updates...

blah1234: It is sad to hear that drugs are so prevalent in our schools. After all that has happened to young folks in our community due to heroin recently, kids are still using. Are they not getting it? Kids/young adults are dying...gone, game over. Unfortunately, once they are addicted they don't seem to care about much of anything except where that next fix is coming from. Doesn't the fact that by using they could very realistically end up dead faze them?..nope..or maybe they think it won't happen to them. Who knows, but we seriously need to address treatment availability/options for our community. Most of us cannot afford the residential treatment centers out of state, yet we are told that is the best shot at full recovery for our heroin addicted family members. Ok, this is me jumping down off of my soapbox now....just saying. .peace and love

it's good they caught these guys but there is still alot of people out there that are selling/using.

just today i saw someone giving someone else Suboxone at school. i started with sobo and then went to heroin so it's only a matter of time before more people become addicted to it.

Some people are pretty adamant about this "those who CHOOSE to use" aspect, but if that's the case, then why is it a crime?
.
In reality it is not necessary to make moral judgements about people to control criminal behavior. It is only personally satisfying for those making the judgements. If you CHOOSE to do that, be aware you're not really approaching crime in a way that's much advanced from the 18th century.

okay fine, it starts out with the one who CHOOSES to do the heroin but then once that ball starts rolling it does poison the family members/children etc. It does not just effect the person who chooses to do it.

officerfriendly1: You make a good point and I agree "no demand no supply". However, as the mother of a heroin addict, it still makes me smile every time I hear that law enforcement has busted another dealer and/or removed this poison from the streets. :)

They are only poisoning our "towns/children/families" who CHOOSE to use heroin. If there is no demand there is no supply.

I find it a little funny that quite a few herion busts have been going down (which is NOT a bad thing!!) but the busts started happening right around the time that Mr. Compton was arrested for having herion and cocaine on him. Interesting...

Awesome! Keep up the good work! The more of this poison that gets pulled off the streets, the better. :)
