Judge: Convicted parents in prayer death can visit Calif.
WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) — The central Wisconsin parents convicted of reckless homicide for praying instead of taking their dying daughter to a hospital have permission to leave Wisconsin before they are sentenced.
Dale and Leilani Neumann were convicted of second-degree reckless homicide in separate trials in the March 2008 death of their 11-year-old daughter. They each face up to 25 years in prison when sentenced Oct. 6.
Marathon County Circuit Judge Vincent Howard changed conditions of their bail on Wednesday to allow them to make a monthlong visit to see family members in California, including Leilani Neumann’s ailing grandmother.
Defense attorney Jay Kronenwetter says family members are helping pay for the trip. The Neumanns are free on a $20,000 signature bond.

I disagree, with thier level of religious gullibility they could be persuaded to do anything, aka blow up a building, shoot a doctor, vote republican, anything. Lock em up for life, they have eternity in heaven to look forward to anyways right? Whats a 40 or 50 years in prison.

I think what the parents did is terrible and they should definitely pay for their crime. But, I don't think they should get more time in prison than someone who commits violent rapes and murders. The parents are not a threat to society, other than their own family. However, violent criminals are a threat to society, and sometimes they seems to get off easy!!

What?! A vacation before they go to prison and toss salad all day long? What would keep them from going further south to Mexico and beyond? 20k? That would be cheap to escape going to prison. I don't get it.

They must have prayed for a vacation.
.
As far as the cost of the medical treatment do you know how much money it would have taken to prevent the victim from going into a diabetic coma? A few bucks?
.
Dub190 - These people killed thier daughter with thier ignorance and somehow the media is blowing it out of proportion - do you have any evidence for your imaginary friend in the sky?

I can not believe they are being allowed to leave the state. Why should they be given any allowances? They killed someone.

Actually, this should make people think twice about insurance companies that refuse care. It's really morally just as bad. But in our culture, the bottom line trumps all ethics.
