MADISON—The fatal shootings of a woman and her young daughter Thursday evening in Madison appear to be linked to the slayings of a woman and a young girl whose bodies were found hours earlier in a nearby suburb, police said.

Investigators were searching for a 38-year-old man they considered a person of interest in all four deaths early Friday morning, police said.

“We believe these are somewhat domestic in nature,” said Madison Police spokesman Joel DeSpain. “We’re still putting this all together.”

Online court records show that a man with the same name and age was involved in paternity cases with two women in both areas. The Associated Press has not released the man’s name because he has not been charged with a crime.

Police were called to a home on Madison’s southwest side around 6 p.m. Thursday and discovered a mother and her daughter shot to death inside a vehicle in the garage.

Around 8:30 p.m., Madison police asked officers in nearby Middleton to locate a vehicle, Middleton Police Lt. Noel Kakuske said. The vehicle was found in a parking lot with the bodies of a woman and a girl in the trunk. Both appeared to have been shot, he said.

The victims’ names and ages haven’t been released.

Kakuske was unsure how Madison police became aware of the vehicle. DeSpain did not immediately return messages early Friday morning.

Investigators don’t know the relationship between the woman and the child found in Middleton, said Kakuske, who said the girl may have been 2 or 3 years old. Investigators believe they have been killed elsewhere and the car abandoned in Middleton.

“It’s possible it was just a random location to leave the vehicle,” Kakuske said.

Court records indicate a lengthy criminal record in Dane County, including convictions for battery and bail jumping, for a man with the same name and age as the man being sought by police. Records show he was involved in paternity cases with a woman in the same block as the Madison double homicide and a paternity case with a woman in Middleton.

DeSpain said the man had a relationship with both women. He declined to comment on whether he had any relationship with the girls.

I'm not saying its the case here and there is definitely no excuse, but many people believe that when one spouse breaks up the family with a "no-fault" divorce and the other spouse is ordered by a "court" to pay ridiculous "child support" money to the guilty party .......the one that is ordered to pay sees no way out and goes nuts.

It's clear this story was written before the police formally named him as a person of interest. Later AP releases do identify Adair by name.
.
This fits the pattern of the so-called family annihilator; most of these individuals also commit suicide, or attempt suicide by cop.

I agree with the people who feel this information as well as a picture should have been posted right away for a couple good reasons. The primary one is that we live 30 miles from madison; info should have been handed out to nearby cities immediately, as they say, time is of the essence. Also, you do not know if this individual has family, friends here, in beloit, or could have been passing thru on the interstate to chicago, and with as slow as the traffic was going, people may have been able to notice something. Please gazette, get on the ball with info like this, especially when it has a vehicle description and plate number.

Here we go, from the Wisconsin State Journal

"Suspected in the deaths is Tyrone M. Adair, 38, police said. He is described as black, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 175 pounds, with brown eyes. He may be driving a silver GMC Acadia crossover SUV with Wisconsin license plate 342-EBL. Police said he is considered armed and dangerous"

There is a photo of the suspect on the State Journal website.

Now why oh why wouldn't the AP or the Gazette release a name or photo?????

It is not slander to release the name of someone being looked for by the police. Why is there no name or photo released? There must be another reason...

It makes sense, he hasnt been charged or linked with any sufficient evidence other than as of right now circumstancial paternity tests linking him to the victims. If you hadnt really killed someone would you want the AP slandering your name across the wire?
.
Im not saying he didnt do this but lets use some common sense.

"The Associated Press has not released the man’s name because he has not been charged with a crime." WHAT? They will not tell us who the at large murderer is? Does the AP have any sense?
