Police arrest group of teens in car vandalism
From the WCLO newsroom:
A group of teens faces charges after reportedly shooting out the windows of a least a dozen cars Tuesday in Janesville.
Officer Todd Bailey says the group used a BB gun or slingshot with marbles to vandalize the cars.
The teens are from Afton.
Bailey says police arrested two brothers in connection with the incidents Wednesday, and expect to arrest three others Thursday. He says the teens are cooperating with police.

My youngest son is now 12. If he ever thought of doing something like this to someone's property, I would be warden like until all was repaired paid for etc. I would lend him out to the victim of the vandalism and he could work for them for a few months. We have had this discussion, he knows that I mean every word. That is enough for him to keep his mind in the right place.

You can make the parents pay. I had my car vandalized years back and I sued the parents. The kid went to court ect... and ultimately the parents are responsible but if you let them the court will order the kid to pay. Sue the parents. Its faster and will teach them to be a parent instead of letting their kids run wild.

Personally the best punishment that they could get is a public paddling.

I Come from a family of five kids and two of my siblings just didn't get it. We were raised by the same parents, but those two were always in trouble, doing things wrong.
It is easy to say that it is the parents fault, but sometimes a parent can only do so much and the rest is up to the child. My mothers favorite quote was that it is alwyas easier to raise someone elses child.

Years back, my sons car got broken into 3 times for cd's and stereo. 3 kids were caught. They went to court and had to pay restitution, bit it took them several years to pay it off. I say make the parents responsible and make them pay immediately, not spread out for years. Maybe if the parents are held responsible, they'll buckle down on their kids.

No jail time for these kiddies... make 'em work it off and have them physically replace each and every window.

Yea will my window on my Tahoe was shattered also and now the punks say they weren't in the area of S. Grant, Who is going to pay me back for the cost of my window. There is evidence of a bb gun hole in my window. I am left to pay for it myself. I am just as upset, The punks say they weren't in that area, haha, I believe different.

My brother was one of the people who had his window shattered. He was supposed to pick me up from the airport, but couldn't thanks to these kids. I didn't think in a million years they would catch them. This makes my day!

spikesmom...it's the same thing with gang grafitti. I never could figure out how spray painting nonsense on other peoples' property somehow made you "tough".

luvinlife: I agree. Just because a bunch of kids are "running loose" does not mean they will be bad kids. It all comes down to the parenting when the kids were young, in most cases anyway.

"Running Loose" That is a good one. Perhaps these parents could chain them up while they run down to the neighborhood bars. If the kids are taught right from wrong in the first place, they could be 'loose" without incident.

Car vandals merit an artical in the gazette, but some kid gets shot in Beloit 7 times doesn't even make the paper (except for the fact an autopsy was being done) - Does Janesville still deny there is major crime here? When are the residents going to admit there are numerous gang rivals at Parker High School and have been for years.

And the "running loose" is just a continuation of when the discipline of toilet training was lacking. The culprits are continuing to leave their mess all over the place.

I wonder if these are the same "little" darlings that shot out car windows previously, if so I would like restitution for the replacement cost of my car windows from before.....
