Police try to put an end to YouTube fights
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay police are trying to stop middle school students from organizing fist fights that end up on the Internet.
Extra police patrols have been added at Franklin Middle School, where students fights have been posted on the YouTube Web site.
Principal Matt Weller says students have been known to organize fights through e-mails, text messages and cell phone conversations.
School resource officers have interviewed Franklin students about the YouTube fights. Police say any students identified fighting online could be arrested on a range of charges, including disorderly conduct, trespassing and battery.

if both people agree to fight, let em fight. by why spend tax payer's money to stop what people will find a way to do no matter what. they will do it somewhere. now by adding the police, i think you will encourage it more, because of the thrill of doing something wrong and trying to get away with it. Teenagers are notorious for that. i know i used to be.
.
just my thoughts

I can't believe people aren't taking this seriously. These were staged fights for entertainment purposes. (I assume that means all participants actually knew what was going on, not that someone was ambushed.) It's not a matter of the cops sitting on YouTube (the videos are gone, btw) playing "internet cop" -- they're really asking parents to become more involved.

I agree, kids fight; thats what they do for a living. The police should be busy fighting crime, not monitoring the social sites on the web.

I am surprised that the police would get involved. Seems to me that parents and school officials should be on top of this. It's nice when people create their own irrefutable evidence against them!
