JANESVILLE -- A Janesville woman accused of trying to kill her husband pleaded not guilty this morning to attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

Nickole E. Pergande, 35, of 530 S. Randall Ave., Janesville, appeared in Rock County Court for a preliminary hearing and arraignment.

She was ordered to stand trial and then entered her not guilty plea.

Nickole is suspected of stabbing her husband, Jaymie Pergande, 38, while he was in the shower, according to the criminal complaint.

Jaymie claims his wife was stealing from him, was distraught over legal issues and sliced his throat in an attempt to murder him, according to the complaint.

Nickole claims her husband is lying, was stressed about the couple’s job loss and got cut for an unknown reason, according to the complaint.

SHERIM...as much as I agree with your compassion, we cannot be responsible for every person who MAY read these blogs. That is where the responsibility of the guardian comes in. Her time on the computer should be moderated, and this definately should be a no no for her to view.....

I still think you need to go back and consider the very low bail amount. She was released without security bracelet or anything like that...they(court) may not consider her too big of a threat to him? Doesn't add up...but then not much in either of their stories do.

This woman has at least one child old enough to be reading this so why don't all of you consider that and stop speculating? Only God knows what really happened. I am sure her daughter does not need to be reading all of these theories though. Have some consideration & compassion!

She had a 1997 CM charge of worthless checks conviction and has just been charged with forgery. Other than that her record was good. Now she has a 1st degree intentional homicide attempt...

Parkhurst & Henthorn are her also known as names..
I have not done a wcca check on those names but other than a traffic ticket I do not see what legal issues she would be concerned about except for the divorce.

Both individuals involved sound as if they are hiding something.. Both allegedly have ulterior motives for their alleged actions. It is very difficult to determine whose story is true when both stories do not seem realistic or plausible. Neither scenario sounds likely. I have a feeling this may not go far in court. Someone will plead or they may dismiss charges.

I agree that if they are still married
and living together that one could say that her "stealing" from her husband is just ridiculous.

I knew this girl as a child, she has always been a bit off. Although I don't know her as an adult, I am quite confident that unless she sought help for her issues, it is quite certain a persons demons are bound to surface eventually, and desperate times seem to excel those with issues to snap. And of course I am speculating here, but I am also willing to bet her husband has issues as well, people with issues usually end up with other people in their same "league". Not always, but usually. So, with these curcumstances, it is pretty much a he/she said/stabbed.

yeah but that is a little different you said he slit his wrists himself and blamed it on you, but then said later he did it for a different reason, this man was stabbed in the neck while in the shower and one is saying she did it and the other is saying cut for an unknown reason. i think that is a little different that a wrist slitting. the was a domestic gone bad

The lengths that someone will go to to prove a point can be mind boggling to say the least. My ex slit his wrist with a butcher knife when he found his girlfriend in bed with someone else but he told the doctors it was because of me leaving him and keeping him from his kid (our daughter had numerous health problems and I was nine months pregnant by him). Needless to say, I took alot of drama from his family at the hospital. That is until he admitted why he actually slit his wrist..

Point is-if someone is trying to hurt themselves, they may blame it on someone else so that they do not look bad..

I've heard about someone trying to cut their won throat with a CHAINSAW (ent dr @ MERCY a few years back) to kill themselves so why does everyone think it is impossible for someone to inflict this type of injury on themselves?

Maybe she was just trying to save money on dishwasher detergent by washing knives while he showered. Then accidently stabbed him in the neck, could have just as easily been a spoon, just bad luck really that it was an extra sharp really big knife.

janesvillemom - who's lying? are you serious? have you EVER heard of someone killing themselves by slashing their own throat? ....where is the knife? hmmm missing? yeah right - and WHO makes the police wait outside while they lock up the dogs while ANYBODY is bleeding to death on the floor. It is stealing when your legally seperated and a spouse takes your personal stuff. In fact, I dont think either party can get rid of anything.

It would be difficult to develop physical evidence to strictly determine which of these two stories is accurate. It will probably hinge on witness credibility, primarily of the injured party.

I suppose it's possible that he slit his own throat so he could frame his wife. Though you have to admit it does seem a tad on the extreme side.

Hopefully the evidence will show one way or the other and the truth will come out. however, a jury of her peers will be the ones making that decision....in either case, this is what the economy in the gutter does to people. Look at all the people that were driving to Nebraska to give up their kids no questions asked.

Maybe her husband is the one who is lying? Only they know the truth at this point. How could she be stealing from him? Isn't the law in Wisconsin that if you are married, you both own everything together?

yikes i would say stabbing your husband in the neck really not that normal. i get mad at my husband but yeah have not even thought about stabbing him. she could of moved out or gotten divorced if it was that bad, she had to know she was going to go to jail for trying to kill him. i don't think she is normal
