School board presidents will discuss budget issues
From the WCLO newsroom:
Some area school board presidents will be meeting soon to discuss topics of mutual interest.
Janesville School Board President DuWayne Severson has scheduled a meeting of local school board presidents from Milton, Edgerton, Clinton and Beloit Turner. It will be held March 12th at the Educational Services Center in Janesville.

The fact is that the Janesville school district has no need to conspire with other districts to hold down teacher raises. With the worst unemployment in the state, reduced incomes and an increase in poverty, this district has all the reasons it needs to insist on a salary freeze or even a decrease. It will be interesting to see if the teacher's union will acknowledge the economic hardships facing it's employers, the residents of Janesville, or will it feel that its own interests exceed that of the city's overtaxed residents.

tkat-You want to compare what you earn to how much a teacher earns? You make it sound like you are so benevolent. I had to take a pay freeze so my hourly workers could get something?!!! Crumbs from the table!!!

I understand how difficult a zero pay increase would be but many executives around the country, myself included, are dealing with the same thing. In my case the desision was made so the company could still provide hourly employees a small increase. If the school board includes all district executives in the zero pay increase than the teachers should consider excepting it.

This is a ploy by the JSD Board of Education to attempt to apply pressure to the JEA to take a zero pay increase. What do you think they will all talk about at the meeting? Most likely it will be an attempt by Severson to get other Rock County school boards to push for low or zero pay increases to their teachers so the Janesville BOE can say to the JEA, "look around Rock County, other districts are asking their teachers to do the same."
