Deer torture suspect may be tied to fatality

WAUPACA -- A man accused of running over and killing deer with his snowmobile along with two others is a suspect in a hit-and-run pedestrian fatality.

Rory Kuenzi, 24, his brother Robby Kuenzi, 23, Nicholas D. Hermes, 22, face multiple felonies related to the Jan. 9 killing of four adult deer and a fawn.

Prosecutors say the three Weyauwega residents chased the animals down with snowmobiles.

But court records allege Rory Kuenzi is a suspect in the 2004 death of Kevin McCoy, who was struck by a vehicle while walking home from a party in Farmington.

Waupaca County District Attorney John Snider says the investigation has been set back by a bungled reconstruction effort. The case was later sent to the State Patrol for a reconstruction report, and there it remains.

Dub - Wow this thread went from idiots who ran over and terrorized deer to calling out President Elect Obama (not the president until Tuesday, but don't let facts get in the way of your whining). I love right wing conservatives who harp on Democrats. Weren't the last 8 years Republican run? Why didn't anything change in regards to abortion?

Isn't this more of a story related to what we already knew: people that torture animals often also exhibit similar attitudes, and ultimately, behavior toward humans. It's why we need to do more to intervene when kids exhibit this behavior.

And, yes, I know many sportsmen, who despise such behavior and help teach their children to respect animals.

This article was not about hunting but since people seem to bring it up because game animals where involved I feel like I need to respond. I am sure most hunters and sportsman would love to teach these sick individuals a few lesson in respect for animals.

Sportsman have more respect for the animals that they hunt than most people realize. It is because of hunting that these game animals have done so well over the last 50 years.

Now back to the topic of the article, I hope all the individuals involved receive the maximum penalty for their crimes. They are not hunters or snowmobiliers. They are just criminals!

Hunting is fine if you eat what you kill but to Slawter animals for fun is sick ,and as far as hunting the dove that's wrong even if it's legal .

Here's a good version of this story: http://www.postcrescent.com/article/2009...
It talks about their other criminal history, the girlfriend and the fact that they were caught quickly due to tips and the offer of rewards. These are definitely not snowmobilers or sportsmen. They are depraved sub-human beings.

OK SarahB, I sure enough missed the story. I asked the Gazette when I e-mailed whether they had printed the story and I had missed it, and the answer I got was that they are mainly just interested in local news. I had to take that as a "no" answer.

as stated earlier I knew the victim in the hit and run and not to sound morbid, but what this guy did to the deer is pretty much what happened to kevin. Kevin was walking home from a party late that night on the side of the road. Reports from people at the party said that earlier the two of them had words. It seems mighty odd that a human and a deer were taken out in the same fashion.

Shopierehuh: Which story are you talking about? The Gazette did run the first story detailing the crime and that snowmobilers were raising a reward fund to help capture the idiots that killed the deer. In fact, that story had a ton of comments posted. I did, however, find a story in another online newspaper a couple of days or so ago reporting the arrests. I was disappointed that the Gazette did not run that update. Also, that story mentioned that the girlfriend of one of these guys was also there when the incident took place. Not sure why she wasn't charged. Anyway, I hope these guys get their dues paid to them in court. I also hope their chances of ever having quality sleep again are ruined by nightmares that haunt them nightly.

This had nothing to do with hunters. It had to do with sociopaths who committed several atrocities against animals.

They ran down the deer, ran over them, broke one's legs and left it to suffer, ran up on another and spun the track on it's body cavity, expelling the inards, tied another to a tree and left it to strangle itself to death, etc. etc.

Unfortunatly, it appeared that the Janesville Gazette did not run this story. I emailed the paper and asked why, after I read the story in a newspaper from a town 700 miles away. The Gazette employee said that they prefer to publish local news.!!!!!!?????

I personally knew the victim that died in the hit and run. My heart goes out to his family and other friends, as this has openend up some deep wounds and memories of that night. I truly hope that they will continue to look into this scumbag, for it is my opinion he is just as guilty of kevins death as he is of the deer, again, this is my opinion, come on facts, proove me right

It's to bad they can't match the punishment with the crime! Put him in an open field with 3 snowmobilers and have at it.
