CEDAR GROVE — Sheboygan County prosecutors say a 21-year-old man who crashed his uncle's car called police to report that he stole the car and had been drinking.

James W. Crist III of Cedar Grove was charged Friday with a felony count of taking and driving a vehicle without the owner's consent. The charge carries a maximum penalty of six years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, Crist had been drinking heavily early Friday morning, then decided to drive to Belgium for cigarettes about 1:30 a.m.

Crist lives with his uncle, who was sleeping at the time. The complaint says Crist took his uncle's car and drove about half a mile before crashing and rolling the vehicle.

Prosecutors say Crist also told police he didn't have a license.

Man, I tell ya. I was going the speed limit the whole way to work today, and when I went to turn off Janesville St. onto Whitewater St. in Whitewater, I slid right past it. I really should have slowed down...

Wow! He must have been really drunk! Drive to Belgium for cigarettes?!?!? How well does his uncle's car handle in the ocean?

I'm sure rooster meant "loser". An understatement, to be sure. And a trip to get cigarettes...DUH. Let's hope the uncle has the sense to press charges.
