From the WCLO newsroom:

Resurfacing work begins Monday on Highway 11 from the bypass to Footville.

The almost six mile project is expected to be completed in September. The $2.8 million project is being funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Governor Doyle says the effort is intended to put people to work on projects that improve the state's transportation infrastructure.

One lane of traffic will remain open throughout the project.

It's about time they do something about that road! I hate driving on it. But hey here's a suggestion, Why don't we make GM pay for it as we put in that bypass FOT THEM and now they have pulled out of janesville!!! it would help pay back the 10 million or so they borrowed from the state and we will probably never see!!!

MrScott - a few years is still a long way off. It's only going to get worse until then.

If you are driving from Brodhead to JVL or even Orford/Footville to Janesville, take Footville/Hanover Road all the way to the Hwy 11 bypass. I take that every day, much better than the holes on Hwy 11.

janesvillean, I highly doubt the county is going to pay for a 24/7 flagman.

spikesmom - I-90 is going to be expanded to 6 lanes in a few years, I imagine they'll do repairs when the expansion occurs.

I am doing a happy dance right now!!! I thank you and my car thanks you! You have no idea how much I am willing to put up with delays out there if it means the road will be repaired. Everybody wants nice roads to drive on but then nobody wants to deal with construction and detours and delays. I drive A LOT for my job and I really hate driving on roads that are long overdue for repairs. First I-43 and now Hwy 11. Now if only I-90 can be fixed...hey, a girl can dream!

How about taking a detour & just avoiding it altogether? I live just off of Hwy 11 myself - I'll be taking an alternate route unitl it's done.

im curious, i drive from brodhead to janesville and i know they have the temporary stop lights on the bridge down by rockport road there, but how is it going to work from the top of the hill in footville to the bypass....will there be lights there as well or are they going to pave the shoulders and people will drive on that?

One lane of traffic? As if we don't have enough head-on collisions in the state!
