Minnesota man killed in ATV crash in Wisconsin
NEILLSVILLE, Wis. (AP) — A 35-year-old Minnesota man has died after losing control of his all-terrain vehicle and crashing it in central Wisconsin.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Department says David Holzwarth of Mabel, Minn., was on an ATV trail in the Township of Dewhurst on Saturday afternoon when he lost control, causing the ATV to roll over. A passenger on the ATV, 32-year-old Heather Stark of Mabel, was injured in the rollover and was taken by ambulance for treatment.
Chief Deputy James Backus says neither Holzwarth nor Stark was wearing a helmet. He also says it doesn’t appear alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.

My heart goes out to this Family.
My husband and I are ATV enthusiasts, and have been on those trails numerous times.
I hope they let us know more of what happen.

While I agree they should have been wearing helmets, a helmet will not guarantee your survival in an accident.

Kids under 18 are required to wear helmets at all times. I, for one, do not wear a helmet most of the time even though it is a good idea to. I do not hot rod or go over 35 mph, but accidents do happen. If not for the safety factor, but to not eat the bugs on the trails is a good idea even though over 85 degrees, it gets really hot inside. I do ride a cycle also and do wear a helmet 99% of the time since the speed is greater and more of a risk to get hit by some idiot on the road and greater chance of serious death or injury on a cycle over an ATV going slow and steady. I do think though that sooner or later (probably 5-10 years away), the state of WI will mandate cycles and ATV users to wear helmets 100% of the time or get ticketed. I don't agree, but it is one more way the state govt. is going to interfer with our individual rights in order to make more money in fines.

Just minors are required to wear brain buckets by law, but the majority of all people do.
