MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin treasurer Dawn Marie Sass has stops planned at public libraries across northeast Wisconsin starting Tuesday to call attention to unclaimed property in the state.

Sass says there are 50,000 unclaimed property accounts totaling more than $7 million in the 11-county area she's touring. Statewide there are more than a million unclaimed property accounts worth more than $350 million.

She will be stopping at libraries in Florence, Forest, Marathon, Marinette, Oconto, Oneida, Shawano and Vilas counties.

She also plans to meet with county officials in Langlade, Menominee and Lincoln counties.

The first stop Tuesday at the Shawano Library.

The unclaimed property database can be searched at www.statetreasury.wisconsin.gov.

I am writing you as I found on the Internet that you are a trustworthy person. Due to the untimely demise (caused, I believe, by jealous relatives on the other side of the family) of my Great Uncle (the former Minister of Banking in Nigeria), I need to move a large sum out of the county without anyone's knowledge.
.
If you will assist me in depositing the US $31,000,000 into banks in your country, I will share 25% with you.
.
Please send me your name, address, nationality, phone, fax and cell numbers, e-mail address, favorite web site, and a photo-copy of your Sears charge card.

I wonder if the cash that is being held as unclaimed is even sitting in an account waiting for someone to say it is theirs.

ame6736, just another reminder that everyone should do end-of-life planning. Joint accounts can be accessed by spouses following death, for instance, and many institutions allow an account beneficiary to be designated.

I have a friend who passed away and left a bank account with $15 in it. In order for her husband to close the account he was told he would have to hire a lawyer for $50 to do the paper work, then the bank would give him the $15. not worth it do u think.

I went to the website and found some money that nobody had ever been told about. Didn't add up to a fortune, but it was a nice surprise. Everybody should check it out cuz you never know. Sometimes a relative dies and forgets to mention things :)
