A Janesville man is accused of driving drunk with a child in his lap and two children in the backseat this morning.

Julius R. Juniel, 24, of 613 Center Ave., was arrested on a charge of drunken driving with passengers under 16.

Department of Natural Resources Warden Mike Dieckhoff saw Juniel in the vehicle at Linn Street and Rockport Road, Janesville, with a child in his lap at about 10 a.m., according to a news release from the Janesville Police Department. He followed the vehicle to Juniel's home and saw that the 8-year-old child was steering, the release says. Dieckhoff called Janesville police for assistance.

Juniel also had a 6-year-old and 2-year-old in the backseat, the release says. He had a blood alcohol level of 0.24, three times the legal limit, the release says.

After the arrest was processed, Juniel was released to a responsible party, according to the release.

Since we can't take away this idiot's ability to procreate, perhaps taking away his license and freedom, immediately, may at least protect the children from their moron father

lives spared, execution, what am i missing. a statistic i have seen predicts ten percent of the drivers on the road on a given weekend night is driving under the influence. that is alot of state sponsored executions.

In some countries, drinking and driving is punishable by death. A first time offense in El Salvador leads to execution by firing squad, while a second offense in Bulgaria also leads to execution. Makes sense to me. I am all for it here in the good old U.S.A. Not only would lives be spared, but insurance rates would fall too.

lisamarie3680: I agree with you that this guy should have been tossed in jail this morning, but that other driver you were referring to (the woman with the baby in the car) caused an accident that nearly killed another driver. That might be why she ended up in jail ... I'm not sure, but that would be my guess.

You are correct, Sannio, is it another accident, but we have few details so far. We do know two people were transported to the hospital.

I didn't read anywhere that they were his kids? I was hoping the Gazette had news why Hwy 51 South of the airport was blocked by many police about 8:50PM. Another accident no doubt.

Sad thing is, this waste of time will do it again too. He just happened to get caught once. They should be doing more then sending him with the sober relative or friend / fine with a court date. Pretty sad he was smashed at 10 in the morning. What a loser way of raising his kids. Should be 3 counts of felony endangerment to a child and drunk driving. Send him off for 3-5 years in Waupon.
