BRADFORD TOWNSHIP--A 44-year-old woman hit by lightning Thursday afternoon was being treated in the Emergency Department of Beloit Memorial Hospital, said a hospital spokesperson.

A report of a person struck by lightning was reported to the Rock County Communications Center at 12:47 p.m. Thursday, a dispatcher said.

A spokeswoman for Beloit Memorial Hospital said Thursday afternoon the condition of Jackie Jackson was not available because she still was being treated in the emergency room.

The Clinton Fire Department responded to the scene at 9407 E. Waite Road, Clinton.

The person struck by lightning was standing in the doorway of a barn hanging on to the reins of a horse when she was struck by lightning, a spokesman from the fire department said.

amazing stuff gjac. couple questions spring to mind.

first. lightning repeats itself. any plans for that barn? the guy who did our solar panels has some lightning rod knowledge.

second. read of folk once struck gettin more than twice shy. how's the attitude regarding storms? any different than before? how about the horse's perspective?

keep at it. sounds like yall are doin somethin right. b&jn

I would like to clear the record that she was not riding a horse and there were no reins involved. My wife was bringing up livestock from the field when the storm struck. She ducked inside the barn, followed by the horses and sheep. Next thing you know she and the horse were knocked down by a lightning bolt. She has 2nd degree burns where her underwire bra was and minor burns on her thighs and ankles, the horse is A OK. The doctors say she is lucky to be alive. In the heat of stabalizing a patient things can often be mis communicated
