Wisconsin labor secretary to speak Wednesday in Beloit
MADISON – At 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Department of Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman will announce a federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act “green jobs” project that will employ young adults in residential energy conservation efforts.
The announcement will take place at home in Beloit. The home is at 902 Randall St. in the Merrill Neighborhood.
As a part of the announcement, Secretary Gassman will join the young energy workers and the residents of the home as the workers inspect the house for ways to increase energy efficiency and reduce costs.
A member of Governor Doyle’s Cabinet, Secretary Gassman leads the Department of Workforce Development and oversees more than 1,600 employees charged with strengthening Wisconsin’s workforce.

I wouldn't think the labor secretary would want to be seen in Wisconsin's city with the highest unemployment.

I am glad to see the funding is coming this way. I've seen news reports about lots of stimulus monies going toward making homes more energy efficient. Sounds like a good idea for me.

The stimulus is a limited source of money, and is supposed to be spent within 24 months, so what other than short-term jobs do you expect it to create? It is still $800 billion pumped into an anemic economy with collapsed demand.

This will be short term jobs just to make them look good for relection. What we need to do is tax the imports so it will create jobs in the USA, this is basic economics. you cannot keep supporting programs when no one has a job!

Let's see if Doyle or Gassman have any help for Rock County. I hear that stimulus money is creating jobs in Madison, where unemployment is at the lowest level in the state. We wither on the vine down here. If Doyle has 10 things on his to-do list, the first 9 should be dealing with job creation.

I was coming back from Illinois a couple weeks ago, and saw a sign next to some road construction that said it was funded by the Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

I think it should read, "at A home in Beloit".
