Edgerton city hall vote challenged
The vote to approve $1.2 million on a new city hall in Edgerton will be recounted.
Tuesday, voters approved the binding referendum by 17 votes. 752 voters cast ballots. On Friday, a recount petition was filed by Lyle Maves, an Edgerton resident. The filing officer says the recount petition is sufficient.
Cindy Hegglund, city clerk-treasurer, says the Board of Canvassers will convene at 7:00am Sunday at the Edgerton Library to perform the recount.

"This is a waste of time.
It passed. The voters spoke. How votes could be changed on a one issue ballot with a yes or no vote?"
Um, same as it could with any "this candidate or that candidate" election where recounts are done. Though I do agree it's a waste of time, if we've learned nothing in these tough economic times it is that the only folks that don't have to do without are those in government. They'll get they're city hall one way or another because, unlike the taxpayers they fleece, they don't have to make any cutbacks, just go back to the trough for more.

I heard the "old Mayor" has something to do with the recount. Typical behaviour from the town idiot.

It probably doesn't hurt to recount this...however, something is very wrong with their elections process if they are 17 votes off.
