Democrats to use new media to attract voters

MADISON — Wisconsin Democrats used their state convention to show off plans to use new forms of media to reach voters.

As the Democrats began to gather at a hotel in Green Bay on Friday, the party unveiled a Web ad that ridiculed the two Republican candidates for governor.

A camera crew interviewed party activists and shot footage to go up on YouTube. And of course, many of them constantly updated their Twitter feeds during the events.

Democratic Party Chairman Mike Tate says increasing the party’s use of new forms of media is one of his top priorities.

He says the party must "make sure we’re taking advantage of every opportunity available to push our message."

mooshoo, what you refer to as hate by the right wing is simply reality. You post modernists from the far left have a hard time handling that, I understand.. Try it sometime, it's actually liberating! Don't get me wrong, there's some redirect from the right side as well which is why I choose to remain somewhere in the middle where the truth is. I do agree however, that it always makes more sense to read from "LEFT" to "RIGHT"!

Right on Dems. Use the new media to attract voters. Let the right wing nut jobs fill the airwaves with their bigoted poopoganda that gives old white guys their daily dose of hate.

I just got through reading the other article in this paper about the Iranian mess and 2/3rds of the way through there was a statement from the great VP. Joe Biden questioning whether the vote over there "reflected the wishes of the Iranian people". What a joke! If the wishes of the ruling class(which in a true democracy there should not be)could be somehow overcome, we would have single-payer healthcare. We would have well regulated banks. We would have an even playing field in business. These are the governments real responsibilities.

Right on, Matthew516 and AndrewJackson.
We're being fleeced on a daily basis and nobody seems to care. We just smile as we're forcefed garbage.

opinionsforfree...I'm in agreement with you on the democrat thing, and I also feel the same regarding the republican party these days. It doesn't matter that you and I refuse to watch or listen to their redirect, the masses are asleep at the wheel and have been educated to believe what they WANT to hear, not what they NEED to hear. It's an uphill battle that we're losing ground on everyday. You can't educate the unwilling and the ungrateful.

And do bedchecks to make sure the representatives and media aren't sleeping together.

You want to get rid of these "representatives"(wink, wink)? Find out whose paying the lobbyists that are sucking up to them and quit buying their products. It's the only way people, the ONLY way! The media should report these relationships each and every day. Whatever else the media believes, that is their job. I've got a question, "Is the biggest problem the lack of caring by the public or the failure of the press(media) to find out and tell us what is really happening"? It's time to start naming names and keep it up until changes are made.

They really don't have to worry about adopting new technologies, because their message (higher taxes and fees) are going to reach everybody soon enough. Lets just hope that these elusive people that can only be reached by youtube and twitter actually connect the dots come election day.

After this last budget they have a lot of guts even showing their faces anywhere. It just show how much they can screw the taxpayer and then have no shame. I would vote for my dog before I would ever vote democrat.

"the party must "make sure we’re taking advantage of every opportunity available to push our message."...by producing 2 negative ads what is your message?

The first 2 ads they come up with are to "ridicule" opponents. They have nothing positive/supportive to say of their own candidate in office; jump to negative ads first. Way to step up and lead Dem leadership, you make Wisconsin tax payers proud!

Ridicule away, if I'm either of them 2 I run one ad, a clip of Diamond Jim before last election with his promise, "We must not, we cannot, and I will not raise taxes". Game, set, match.
